View Full Version : For those who have AntennaTV, would these 2 changes make the channel better?
TVFactFan 08-16-2011, 07:52 PM Don't get me wrong the channel was a breath of fresh air at the start of 2011 but we really haven't seen too many changes since January. So would these 2 changes make the channel better?
1. Reduce the number of Norman Lear sitcoms on the schedule which currently at (4)
2. Reduce some of the airings of movies
I dont want to believe in January of 2012 that we wll be still looking at the same schedule which is 4 months away.
mets82 08-16-2011, 08:53 PM I agree with both of your changes. I think they need more variety of programming and they should just cancel all movies all together. Ive never even heard of most of them. What they should do is maybe get rid of showing shows for 1 hr. like they do with Maude, All in the Family, Married with Children, Good Times etc. and just show 1 episode each.

Yes break up those hour blocks and create some variety instead of the same schedule for 8 months. I'm not really impressed with Antenna TV anymore like I was early in the year.
Retro76 08-16-2011, 11:01 PM The movies are fine but I do think hour blocks of shows are a bit too much. Plus, some shows have been cycled more than twice (i.e. Good Times, Maude, etc).
BigManMike 08-17-2011, 11:36 AM Definitely get rid of the movies. But please keep the Norman Lear shows. I love All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, and Sanford and Son. I also hope they add The Jeffersons and One Day at a Time.

It only needs to be The Jeffersons, One Day at a Time, and Maude since they are the Lear shows not complete on DVD.
retrofan05 08-17-2011, 05:54 PM With all of the shows that are currently airing, I think The Facts of Life would be a nice addition as well. It isn't airing anywhere and only has Seasons 1-5 on DVD.

since it's a kid's show I don't see it being on antenna tv. More like teenick or disney

I don't really see The Facts of Life as a kids show. It featured teens, but had storylines that both kids and adults could enjoy and it originally aired in a line-up alongside The Golden Girls. Also, considering the show's age, I think it would make much more sense on a classic TV channel. I highly doubt the kids that watch Disney or TeenNick would have any interest in it.

I guess preteen to teen show, more like 10 to 18 years old girls. I don't think it will do well on antenna tv
gilligan fanatic 08-18-2011, 08:11 AM I want to see more shows that aren't on DVD on the channel. A lot of what they air I have on DVD so I have no reason to watch it on TV anymore. They also air some shows that are on other channels like TV One and TV Land.
TeeVeeCloset 08-18-2011, 09:59 AM I'm afraid it all boils down to money, don't forget Tribune is still in bankrupcy...I agree with #2, reduce the movies...we all have our own creative ideas but until they get some real commercials, they need to start to make a profit, the current commercials don't generate real revenue.
They need to either use the only one program deal they have more effectively with Sony or add another, but again that is very expensive.
I don't mind the Lear shows, but show series with less exposure, like so many others have asked for "One Day At A Time" to be added to the mix. And how about "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", "Fernwood/America 2 Night"?
I would also like to see the 80's Sony owned "The New Gidget" paired with the old one season 60's series which is entering its 4th run on Antenna TV soon.
I would like to see shows that have not had major exposure, these come from all different distributors, so it wouldn't be possible, but I am just using these shows as examples....
My Three Sons
Petticoat Junction
It's A Living
Life Goes On
How To Marry A Millionaire (Barbara Eden 3 seasons)
Tammy
Family Affair
Nanny & The Professor
Please Don't Eat The Daisies
The Ghost & Mrs. Muir
The Farmer's Daughter (as originally announced)
The Real McCoys
Family
Eight Is Enough
My World & Welcome To It
My Mother The Car
Bachelor Father
Alice
Archie Bunker's Place
Ozzie & Harriet/ Ozzie's Girls
We all could go on and on and on.....give it a chance to grow, I do like the seasonal changes, we all seem to be in agreement that we hate Viacoms' approach of changing the TV Land schedule literally hourly....at least with Antenna TV I know I can count on the show being on for the full length of the series run.

I think Maude is the only show on ANTTV that is not airing anywhere else or on DVD

Yeah, I am looking at the schedule now and it might just be Maude and Hazel. I don't know if Too Close for Comfort is on DVD, but either way that is just three shows out of a bunch that they air.
CaliforniaKid 08-18-2011, 03:04 PM Seasons 1 and 2 of Too Close for Comfort are on DVD but not the last 4 Seasons. Most of these shows either have no DVD release or a partial DVD release.
Circus Boy
Iron Horse
The Ropers
Three's a Crowd
Too Close for Comfort
Burns & Allen
Rin Tin Tin
Here Comes the Brides
