It was sugested in BTTF 2 that when Marty hit the Rolls Royce and was sued that it was his fault. But if you see the end of BTTF 3 when Needles wants to race Marty, and Marty takes off in reverse instead, you can see the Rolls Royce pull out of a driveway and almost hit Neddles truck. Like all driveways that cross a big road, I'm sure this one had a stop sign in it because you clearly see that there is not Signal light on the main road. So it seems to me that the guy in the rolls ignored the stop sign, and since Needles and Marty had the right away, the accident would have clearly been the fault of the guy in the Rolls Royce. And Marty could have proven it because he had 5 witneses. Jennifer, Needles and his 3 friends.

Though you'd think if the driver could afford a Rolls Royce, he could probably afford the repair job well enough himself- but maybe he was crooked and paid off the judge to rule in his favor. Who knows? Good factual error spotting though.:)
