I remember MTVs 20th Monkees anniversary and it was Very popular.

Well first of all, a 48 hour marathon would be more than necessary since the show only had 58 episodes :)

But not be a hater, but I don't think it holds up all that well. It would certainly have its fans for nostalgia purposes but I don't think it would do that well. Remember back in 1997, Nick at Nite had "Monkee Mondays" on Block Party Summer and yanked it early (replacing it with "Green Acres" with a few weeks to go) due to low ratings

This would be kind of cool, especially if they threw in the 33 1/3 special and Head. I own all of these on DVD so I probably go out of my way to watch but would if on tv. Would it be popular? No idea, it might but many people I know generally don't like marathons of shows.

Listening to a 2-3 minute Monkees song and sitting down to watch their 30 minute sitcom are two different things. 60's music has held up much better than 60's TV. Music can span generations because most songs feature lyrics we can all relate to. Old TV shows on the other hand often come off as outdated and irrelevant to younger generations.

Very good point because i can watch TV shows from the 60's but hate the music from that decade

I watched the Monkees as a kid in the 80's and loved it, and was elated when I learned it was going to be on AntennaTV. I watched the entire series again earlier this year, and I have to be honest, it was not as good as I remembered it. After 5 or 6 episodes, you realize its just the same thing over and over with different guest stars. I can finally see why they tried to change their image. At least I can still enjoy their music, but there's no way I'm ever watching the entire series again.

I like songs from the 50's and 70's but something about the 60's music was just odd

What kind of 60's music? I mean, the styles were so varied then. You had Folk, Rock & Roll, Heavy Metal, Psychedelic. It's hard to label an entire decade when the music was all so different. It changed so much even from the early 60's to the late 60's.

I love 60's music and yes late 60's there were so many styles. When it comes to the Monkees I prefer the second season music over the first.

If The Monkees had a 48 hour marathon, by hour 32, there would be so much in-fighting between the episodes they would have to cancel it and add Partridge Family episodes to the mix in order to finish it.

Now here is a challenge to thread readers....tell me the reasonable explanation for this "inside joke" and the winner will get a "no prize" but the honor of understanding "tongue in-cheek" humor. I will post answer Thursday morning 8/18/11. Sorry no hints below, with a joke you should either get it right away or not at all....

By infighting do you mean all the infighting between them and Kirschner? or with the infighting between the group?

Well I guess no one cared...lol....the reason for the riddle was recently the three monkees abruptly cancelled their reunion tour with only 8 more dates to finish. Micky made a comment on his facebook page and most on the inside know these guys are their own worst enemy with constant in-fighting between the three and their huge egos. It was just announced that for the remaining New Jersey date in September, David Cassidy & David Jones will perform that night and all pre-sold "monkees" tickets would be honored. So that is what I meant if there was a Monkee episode marathon, they would have to finish it by running Partridge Family episodes....alright I write these things to amuse myself....lol.
