With fourquels and fivequels all the rage this year, we suppose it was only a matter of time before Mike Myers dusted off the Austin Powers franchise, which has lain dormant for almost a decade. HitFix reports that Myers just signed on the dotted line for Austin Powers 4, though no story details are known and no other talent is yet attached. If it gets made, it'll be a rare opportunity to see the increasingly M.I.A. actor in a live-action movie: Since 2002's Austin Powers in Goldmember, Myers has only appeared in four films outside the Shrek franchise, and one of those was his single-scene cameo in Inglourious Basterds.

HitFix can now confirm that Mike Myers just closed his deal to return for a 4th Austin Powers movie.

No word yet on who will be directing. I would hope Jay Roach returns as well, since I think a lot of the kick of the films is the '60s pop aesthetic, and Roach has been a big part of that since day one.

There's also no word yet on a proposed storyline, but I will certainly start digging to see what I can come up with.

Right now, all that's sure is that someone's going to get shagged, and for the first time in a decade, Austin Powers fans are going to have new material to get excited about.

We'll update you as more details become available.

I also hope to see all of the Austin Girls reunited. (yes I know Vanessa was a fembot but this franchise doesn't care about the plot)

i like those movies too and maybe mike can return to snl as host to plug the the movie after all his return in 97 brought him luck with the first one

Some movies are made strictly for the sole purpose of making those involved in the film's
production MONEY. A film like this is NOT expected to be a hit, but all those who had a hand in making it will be PAID.
