As you can see, this page has really become a dead zone! Just look at my last to failed attempts to stimulate some conversation not to mention the failed attempt by the poster whose message came between my two! I guess that people just feel that any topic pertaining to this show has already been beaten into the ground! Each poster probably feels that it is time for he or she to get on with their life and let the other posters get on with their's. However, one thing that I hate to do is throw in the towel! Because of this, I am here to post a new message commemorating the fifty-three views of my second to last post on this page. Fifty-three years ago was 1958. I remember a very early episode of "Three's Company" in which Mr. Roper tries unsuccessfully to sell his old car. His car was a 1958 Chevy. Is anyone here a "Three's Company" fan? One way that I found "Three's Company" to be quite a bit different from "Gimme a Break!" is that the latter made an effort to mix drama with comedy while the former was almost pure slapstick. The episode about Roper's Car is a good case and point about that reality! If my facts are correct, that episode came out in 1978. That was three years before the birth of "Gimme a Break!". There was a three-year overlap of the time that both shows were on prime time. However, another way that they are different is that the former is still going strong in syndication while the latter is almost non-existant anywhere other than You Tube and DVD! Oh well!

 Why are posting something about The Ropers on the Gimme a Break board? Why wouldn't you be posting with Three's Company OR The Ropers?

Anyway, about the car, is that the same old car we saw in the pilot of The Ropers?

The first thing that I would like to do is respond to your question about the car. Yes, the car that Mr. Roper tried to sell to either the kids upstairs or to Mr. Wagstaff was the same car that we saw at the start of the new series called "The Ropers". This is because he was unsuccessful in selling his old car and had no money for a new one. Now let us turn to the issue of why I posted a thread about this situation on this page rather than on the page of "Three's Company" or "The Ropers". As you can see, it is next to impossible to stimulate any conversation on this page! Take a look at how few posts there have been in the past six or so months! In the start of this thread I mentioned all of my failed attempts to get some conversation started. One of these attempts was a thread called "Beyond Therapy". This dealt with a third season episode called "Samantha's Protest" and an episode of "Family Ties" that reminded me of that episode. Although no one has responded to that thread, it had been viewed fifty-three times at the point in which I started this thread. In another attempt to stimulate some conversation over here, I tried to think of something to commemorate the fifty-three views of that thread. The only thing that I could think of was the fact that fifty-three years ago, the car from the "Three's Company" episode was made and so that is what I wrote about. The fact that you responded to that post shows that my effort to stimulate some conversation was a success!

As You can see, a few days have gone by since I started this thread. I was very happy to have managed to start a thread that actually generated some conversation on what seemed like a dead zone! Shortly afterwards, I started another thread that also generated a response. I thought that things were really picking up! However, like anything else, the novelty of the situation wore off. This being the case, I tried many times to think of new things to post that I thought other fans might be interested in. All of my efforts to stimulate any new conversation have been fruitless! I started four new threads and brought I do not know how many of my old favorites to the top of the page! Take a look at the results! Because this one managed to generated a couple of responses only a few days ago, I have now decided to bring it to the top. After I make this post, I will bring the one right under it to the top. See you in a minute!

I see that it has been about a week since anyone has posted anything new on this page. I am well aware that, in between my last attempt to start some conversation and now, some other posters have gone into action. The only thing is that, I really have nothing to add to what they wrote about. Because this post managed to stimulate some conversation a while back, I am now seeing what I can do by bringing it to the top of the page.
