I read some differences between the first season of LITB's Universal DVD and the Shout Factory DVD. I am going to try to find the link for this:

1.) In Shout Factory's DVD for Season 1, "The Black Eye" episode has no opening monologue. (Hugh's dialog before the opening credits) Universal's DVD has this intact.

2.) Shout Factory has all but 7 episodes mixed where the opening monologue comes after the title sequence. In Universal's Disks, the opening monologue comes before the episode title credits play. This was the way the episodes originally aired. The seven episodes from Shout Factory's disks play in the sequence of opening monologue than title sequence.

3.) Brotherly Love has a different opening monologue on the Shout Factory disks than on the Universal Disk!

I found the source: Scroll down about five lines from the Bolded Words, "The Mystery is Why" for info on some of the alterations:

Yep, the 1st season LITB DVD from Shout Factory is pretty badly messed up. I never watch the 1st season DVD's from Shout Factory. I kept my season 1 set from Universal and play those discs when I want to watch episodes from the 1st season.

I didn't realize Shout Factory re-did seasons 1 and 2.

They don't sell the seasons 1&2 seperately. Shout only re-did the first two seasons and put them in the complete set and in order to get those you would have to buy the whole set. I still like Shouts set up better. Universal blew it when they made us wait for several more years before deciding to sell the rights and wasted all that time.

Universal might have blown it by abandoning the series, but at least they got the 1st season DVD correct and all the opening teasers are in the proper place. The 1st season DVD from Shout Factory is a pretty bad mess.

I'm just thankful to have the series on DVD and I for one don't care about openers and such just as long as I have the show UNEDITED, which it is.
