Either the Reed estate got paid big bucks or the manufacturer just did it, but after a long absence of Robert Reed's image on recent "Brady" collectibles, I noticed he is pictured from the first season in his usual square on a just released BB Cookie Jar shaped like a TV, the center square has the "The Brady Bunch" logo, so Ann B. Davis does not appear on the piece. Hopefully the Reed Estate has had a change of heart about not letting their fathers' image and likeness allowed on Brady products or if they haven't this cookie jar could be pulled off the market fast. It can be found in most collectable catalogs and stores.

Interesting. It's neat that Reed's estate may now be allowing the use of his image in BB marketing but it's a shame Ann B. was left out of this particular campaign. After all Alice was the chief cookie baker in the Brady household!

I understand about Ann B, but I have seen the cookie jar and putting the Brady logo in the center was the best thing to do to make it look nice. Otherwise the name would've had to cover up her face entirely, trust me...again it is shapped like a TV screen with antenna as a lid, the picture of course looks like the wonderful old fashioned TV screen aspect ratio, which sadly it looks like we will have to live with 16:9 long screen for the rest of our lives, as you can no longer even buy a decent size old fashioned TV.....perhaps like vinyl records and players have enjoyed a slight comeback, I am hoping the old screen size will return some day.

hitting buttons, having the picture stretched or squeezed, I am dreading the day I ever have to watch my classic TV DVD collection on one of the new sets in a square, much like one of the Brady squares!

I am glad I am not the only one, I am not against progress, but believe we should have a choice, everything is disposable now....I have a Zenith (not a console) which is celebrating birthday 31 this year! I also have a huge Toshiba in year 20....both sets have perfect color, etc!

Today you are just suppose to get your year or two out of it and then replace it, because try and find a TV repairman shop anymore....plus there is nothing like the sound of tapping on a real glass TV screen, honestly a sound that cannot be duplicated. Instead of the pulsing, color vibrating, non crystal clear pictures todays average TV bring.

as for digital TV, and the freezing, tiling and blocking, picture total locking up, please give me a snowey analog signal anyday and I would happily balance my rabbit ears wrapped in tin foil sitting on the arm of the couch to get the picture just right!

Technology is really what is destroying the world, changing people, we are communicating less, not more, in this so called communication age as we all hide behind our computers, blackberrys, texting & tweeting while updating our Facebook page because our every move has to be documented. Boy am I sounding an old 48, but trust me, the world worked just fine when life was simplier. Problem with people in my age bracket, we know the world before and after, and it worked and so did people. Remember Just because it can be done, that doesn't mean it has too or it makes it better. Words to live by......

I agree about digital TV, it is faulty and some people have made a lot of money on it. There was nothing wrong with analog TV, I also don't like how the digital thing was forced on to the public, we had to accept it whether we like it or not. I have a couple smaller analog TV's that I still use, I had to go out and buy two of those converter boxes so those sets could still get reception when doomsday and the conversion to digital occured. Now I have reception problems with those sets because the picture freezes up and I always have to adjust the antenna. That was not the case with the old analog signal. Digital is a bunch of hogwash, it's a total sham.

Regarding the Brady Bunch cookie jar, I'm not going to buy one but I guess it's cute enough. Judging by the picture posted above, it looks cheaply made. What does it retail for?

We had a Zenith TV for many, many years. We had it from the time I was very little until it finally bit the dust in 1993 - when I was 13 1/2. It had rabbit ears and no remote, but it was solid and reliable. We're on our third TV since then. (Not counting the TVs in my brother's and my rooms.)

Over the years, Zenith TV's have normally been a good investment. The two consoles I have are nice sets. As a kid growing up in the 1960's, my parents had a Zenith black and white set. It was on legs and the TV could swivel back and forth. No remote control in those days, the TV had a knob to change channels, another knob to adjust the volume, and a few smaller knobs that adjusted the picture. If I recall, the TV had tubes in the back. If a tube went out, the set wouldn't work again until the bad tube was replaced. A few shows I remember that my parents watched on that set are: Jackie Gleason Show from Miami Beach, Dean Martin Show, Get Smart, Star Trek, Laugh In, Mothers In Law, My World And Welcome To It, many other shows too that I have since forgotten. Yea, those were some good days with fond memories. Sometimes I would like to go back to being a kid when life was simpler and a lot more fun than it is right now.

I remember we bought a 2nd tv set in 1969, when I was 4 years old. It was a 25" B&W set, but it had a remote control with 4 buttons (probably on/off, channel up, channel down, and mute). Remote controls are so complicated now that if you lose your set's remote control, the set is very hard, if not impossible, to operate.

My Mom and Dad had a 15 in b&W set until my parents bought an RCA color console with their tax refund money. I was excited that I could watch Batman in color, instead of going to the neighbors house. Nice cookie jar only wish they had Alice's picture on it too.

My parents got their first color set in the early 1970's, soon after we moved to a new apartment. At the time they thought buying a color TV was a pretty big deal, and I guess maybe it was. They decided to keep the old black and white set, and put it in storage. But years later the storage was cleaned out, and bye bye went the old black & white TV. :( By that time, it was almost impossible to find replacement tubes for that type of TV, so my folks figured it wasn't worth keeping anymore.

My parents didn't get a color TV until the early 90s! I saw most shows in the 80s in black and white!:lol:
