View Full Version : TVLand's forum deleted the program board again
TimOhara123 08-05-2011, 03:52 PM Looks like TVLand doesn't want anyone to see the members complaints about the programming.
Why have the board if you don't want any opinions other then the opinions that that want to be seen?
tiredmike59 08-05-2011, 04:00 PM That reminds me of this site that I was directed to while looking for antennas.
They were trying to sell this HD directional antenna and were really giving it a lot of hype, but when I clicked on the page where customers rated it, only 3 out of 30 comments were favorable towards it. The rest said it sucked. I wondered why they would allow those negative comments to be posted.
Naturally I lost interest in it.
TimOhara123 08-05-2011, 04:09 PM The Link AKA Simon is still there posting the TVLand line about old programming is a no go etc.
I also noticed the ditched alot of the fake reality shows on the current schedule, wonder if they figured out that was a huge mistake?

Maybe because it was the same complaints?
TimOhara123 08-05-2011, 04:37 PM They took down the previous programming forum because it had probably 10000 plus complaints, and they took down its replacement board because they had probably 1000 complaints since it was reopened. I would guess they had several complaints on various things.
TimOhara123 08-05-2011, 04:43 PM I'm not complaining at the board, its just odd that they had alot of complaint before they removed both boards.
It makes it appear they don' want any complaint on the board.

I don't see the purpose of the board if the programming is not going to change
Regulus 08-05-2011, 05:36 PM I gave up on TV Land(fill) over a decade ago. Most of the Vintage Shows that they no longer show are available on DVD, either Officially or those
:happyface  :rotflmao:"Special":rotflmao:  :happyface sets found only on  ioffer or sell.com. (Some of which were recorded off of TV Land or better yet
TV LAND CANADA)! :bluesbros As most of you know, I "Cut the Cord" a little over 4 1/2 years ago, and since then have, for all intents and purposes,
 MADE MY OWN VINTAGE TV SHOW NETWORK! So I really dont give a Rat's :mooner: about TV Land (or any Cable/Pay-TV Network). Besides, with all the money they're making on :angryfire Commercials :angryfire, they obviously don't miss the $65.00 a month I used to pay before I got rid of my Subscription! :D

It's a waste of energy to complain about TV Land [programming in 2011-lol Especially when they refuse to change

As I said before, I gave up on TV Land a decade ago, & ALL of Cable/Pay-TV 4 1/2 years ago. :horse:
yankeesrj12 08-05-2011, 09:48 PM I could not imagine giving up cable.
Can't show Night Court but can sure as hell show warmed-over reruns of boorish Boston Legal at 5am.

Decade ago? I don't think TV Land started going down hill until 2004/2005
dakert 08-05-2011, 11:41 PM Recently, I used to check out current programming first and there wasnt much there to begin with. A few posts in a week. Back in 2004/5 it was humming
Regulus 08-06-2011, 05:05 AM In the early 2000s they began taking off many of the dramas such as Dragnet, Emergency!, Route 66 and others and replacing them with repeated episodes of various sitcoms (They'd run episodes of the same Series three or four at a time, the precurser of "Block" or "Mini-Marathon" Programming) at this time they also began increasing the number of Commercials as well. Then in 2004/2005 things REALLY began to go downhill. :( By the end of 2006, I had seen enough. :angryfire
TimOhara123 08-06-2011, 08:19 AM Thats when I started adding series to my collection I also bought a roku this year and cut off most of the Sat channels, haven't missed a thing in 4 months.
Hey Reg I made it up to 420 series and 47,500 eps

Yeah, I gave up on TV Land when they started doing the reality shows. Their original programming with retro shows was awesome and was one of my favorites. Wish I could get Antenna Tv.
TVFactFan 08-06-2011, 04:26 PM TV Land's last good moment for me
2006 Labor Day Marathon weekend of the Jeffersons
Man, I locked myself in my APT all weekend and watched every ep I could from Saturday to Monday

Antenna TV is starting to lose it's appeal. Mainly because their programming on the weekend stinks. And the primetime schedule for Mon to Thursday needs a shake up. No need fo them to air shows that are already on TV Land like
Good Times
All in the Family
Sanford and Son

Where is this "The Link AKA Simon"? Is this a URL?

TimOhara123 08-08-2011, 01:40 AM The Link was the former moderator for the forum who was fired from the job, he now goes by the nic Simon
storrs19 08-08-2011, 10:59 AM I've given up on just about every channel except for TCM and Antenna TV. Like the above poster mentioned I buy the dvd sets of shows I want from amazon or the grey area sets from ioffer. TVLand Canada seems not to edit their shows to death (at least they didn't on the sets I have).
TimOhara123 08-08-2011, 11:11 AM I also got a roku streaming device and have found alot of series on Netflix, Hulu, Pud a hub and other channels.
Been watching I married Joan this weekend thru the roku box
TKMetal 08-08-2011, 11:23 AM People are fighting a losing fight here. TV Land caters to advertisers exclusively, your complaints on a message board ain't going to change anything.
Regulus 08-08-2011, 11:37 AM TVLand Canada seems not to edit their shows to death (at least they didn't on the sets I have).
That's because Canada's Ministry of Communication (Their version of our FCC), LIMITS  the number of Commercials a Station or Network can show per hour. (I believe it's 12 Minutes per hour). TV Shows shown on their Channels show little, if any editing (Some are "Time-Sped", but I'd rather have that versus having scenes cut off)!  :angryfire BTW the Networks in the US KNOW this, In the 1990s I read an article somewhere on how NBC was having trouble getting the Nielson Ratings for their Olympic Games break into the top 20. Their Affiliates in Seattle, Minneapolis, Detroit and Buffalo reported their ratings for the Olympics were in the BOTTOM 10 because viewers would tune into Canadian TV Stations to watch their FAR SUPERIOR Coverage. In 1996, when the Olympics were in Atlanta NBC actually considered serving Court Injunctions to Cable Systems along the Canadian Border forcing them to "Black Out" the Canadian Stations but backed off when one Cable System in Buffalo threatened a "Constitutional Rights" Lawsuit if they carried out their plan.
LUNCH 08-08-2011, 12:27 PM ^^^We'd all be alot better off if we could view some of those Canadian tv stations in America.Heck I know it's not going to happen but I'd love if we had the abilty to watch American classic tv shows on tv stations from the UK,Canada and other English speaking countries.Just drop most of the commercial filled American stations.
LUNCH 08-08-2011, 12:58 PM People are fighting a losing fight here. TV Land caters to advertisers exclusively, your complaints on a message board ain't going to change anything.
I agree, and it's not only TVLand of course. Having said that, in a way it's good they got rid of their program forum, because there were still people begging them to add classic shows. Also I don't even know why people go on TVLands face book page and STILL keep asking them to air more classics. They may as well also get rid of their facebook page.
TimOhara123 08-09-2011, 11:28 AM In response to #25 in nthis thread, I'm not worrying or complaining about the programming or the lack of it on TvLand, I just found it interesting that they deleted to programming borads because of so many complaints
I don't get all of the bitterness that there seems to be towards this channel - they had to do what they did in order to stay profitable and attract advertisers. I like a lot of the shows they have, but the repetition is crazy and the shows are stale so I rarely watch them anymore. Who really cares anymore, with networks like Me TV, Antenna TV, and This TV which have picked up where they left off?
LUNCH 08-09-2011, 01:46 PM clj2, that's the whole problem ,all these once good tv stations ruined themselves to attract advertisers.I think alot of them were always profitable, nowadays they just want to make insane profits. TVland just stands out because they used to be such a good, unique and very popular station. That's why I think there is still alot of bitterness towards them. I do agree though that with stations like Antenna tv,Me tv etc. there's no reason to care anymore about tvland.
TVFactFan 08-09-2011, 03:23 PM TV Land rep was basically saying a few years ago that it's not that they don't want to be a classic only tv station, but if it was it wouldn't survive because of advertisers
JMas493 08-09-2011, 04:14 PM I just visited the Gunsmoke board on TVLand's forum and it certainly hasn't been deleted. There were messages posted as recently as yesterday.
