Ricky Gervais on Getting Emmy Nom for His Vilified Golden Globes Hosting Gig (VIDEO)

After Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes this past year, he was vilified in the press and by much of the Hollywood community. Apparently, he was too harsh and insulting to some of Hollywood's elite and they were not amused.

But somebody was, and David Letterman was all too pleased to bring it up on "Late Show".

I'm so happy about this. Remember the big stink about you hosting The Golden Globes where 'Top Film Star Celebrities Had Their Feelings Hurt'... ouch, we can't hurt the feeling of a top film star.. ouch.

And they wanted to kill you, there were actually vigilante groups roaming the country looking for you.

Usually you would have to actually kill someone to get that much press.

For like a day-and-a-half you were the most sought after, evil presence in the world. And listen to this for that performance this man has been nominated for an Emmy Award ladies and gentleman.

I won't win.

It won't make any difference whether you win because the real question is would you host their little dog and pony show again?

Uh... I don't think I should.

I think he and Pierce give Brits a bad rap, they come off as arrogant and that's what people don't like. Why don't they stay in England.

He was the best host they had in years. I'm glad he got the nom.

I think you mean Piers Morgan.

Some people like the U.K. style of humor and others don't.

I personally don't think he's funny but every now and then Hollywood does have to be humbled.
