retrofan05 08-02-2011, 01:13 PM Yawn. Hopefully this isn't the permanent fall schedule. They've had this same boring line-up for too long.
icecream 08-02-2011, 02:27 PM 5 hours of Bonanza every day is pathetic!
tiredmike59 08-02-2011, 02:36 PM Isn't Bonanza the only non-comedy on that list ?
Regulus 08-02-2011, 02:38 PM All the Classic TV Shows I wish to watch lie withing 15 feet of where I'm sitting right now! All are uncut and COMMERCIAL-FREE, and I can watch them ANYTIME I WANT, and after I watch them I GET TO KEEP THEM!
Yawn. Hopefully this isn't the permanent fall schedule. They've had this same boring line-up for too long.
I know! I am so sick of Sanford and Son, All In The Family, and more than anything, Everybody Loves Raymond. ELR is literally aired to death! Not to mention that it airs on TBS and locals.
Losing Gunsmoke is an end of an era for TV Land - it's aired since 1996, when they launched. It was a staple for years...sad. However, since they seem to be moving towards exclusively sitcoms, I can understand it. It's on MeTV. I wish they would have replaced it with Leave it to Beaver and Andy Griffith, though, instead of more Bonanza!

I think it's possible LITB and Andy Griffith may get more prominent daytime slots for October since All in the Family will be expiring. They can't air 5 hours of Bonanza all year long - that would be insane!
BigManMike 08-02-2011, 05:57 PM So when does All in the Family expire? I guess their not renewing it. I'd rather watch it on Antenna TV anyway and at some point I'll probably get the DVDs. I wish the Jeffersons was on Antenna TV instead of TV Land. Good Times and Sanford and Son are everywhere and I still like them. TV Land could do better with Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver and show them more on weekdays. I don't know why the only air Three's Company in the overnight hours either, but I watch it everyday on Antenna TV. The other stuff is ok but it doesn't matter to me that much.

They can't air 5 hours of Bonanza all year long - that would be insane!I don't know why they'd let AITF expire - it must be doing well, since it is airing so much. I think they should do a Leave It To Beaver/Bewitched/Andy Griffith/I Dream of Jeannie/Good Times/Jeffersons sitcom block from 8am-2pm and air sitcoms in the 4pm hour also. Who knows, they could do an afternoon movie. That's clearly too much Bonanza, though.
thebigcookie: AITF expires at the end of September.
MikeLutton 08-02-2011, 08:36 PM i doubt anyone even watches AITF Anymore since all of the dvds are out im sure everyone has them and same with sanford and son hope they expire soon and bring on other classic shows that not on dvd.

I mean, they could air 5 hours everyday, since there are 431 episodes. They'd only be repeating the episodes every 86 or so days. :p

You are assuming the average buy DVD sets. If no one was watching something on TV Land, they wouldn't continue to air it in any shape or form.
mets82 08-02-2011, 09:51 PM Dare I say they can add a couple of shows and maybe tone down the airings of some other shows. I mean how many times can they show Everybody Loves Raymond, Bonaza, The Nanny a day? I mean enough already. Cant they add some other shows? I dont know what but something.
CAN THEY PLEASE START SHOWS ON TIME INSTEAD OF OFF THE CLOCK!!! WHY CANT THEY SEE NOBODY LIKES IT!!!
benjamoon 08-02-2011, 11:02 PM Well it's the end of an era for TV Land with their last original show, "Gunsmoke," leaving.
Remember back in 1996 when Gunsmoke and TV Land started? Remember how creative their schedule was? How diverse their show selection was? How awesome their commercials were?
Pavan 08-02-2011, 11:58 PM I think Gunsmoke left the schedule once before and they renewed it quickly after, if I recall.
benjamoon 08-03-2011, 01:03 AM I think Gunsmoke left the schedule once before and they renewed it quickly after, if I recall.
I don't remember that happening but you might be right. I stopped following TV Land religiously in the mid 2000s so I don't know for sure... but I had thought it was always on.
TVFactFan 08-03-2011, 01:06 AM Sanford and Son still "sticky glued" on the schedule and the Jeffersons still airing early in the morning and once in the evening
I can't remember a time that it didn't air either in the morning or afternoon, but I didn't have cable for a while around 2007-2009 so I might have missed it. I know the show has a very loyal audience, young and old. However, it is a little silly seeing "Laugh More" at the bottom while Gunsmoke is airing, so I understand why they would let it go. Correct me if I'm wrong, but does this make LITB the longest running show currently airing? It's been on since 1998, although it has had several hiatuses. I don't think they've ever lost the rights, though.
I suspect they will let more contracts of older shows expire as they move towards more recent shows.

sanford and son is a close second since it has been on TV Land since 2000
benjamoon 08-03-2011, 10:32 AM sanford and son is a close second since it has been on TV Land since 2000
Didn't Sanford and Son first come in 1997 and then leave after a few years, but returning in 2003/2004?
catlover0908 08-03-2011, 12:03 PM Anyone know when Bonanza expires? I thought Gunsmoke and Bonanza had the same expiration date...
I'm a huge Bonanza fan and hope it stays on the schedule, but 5 hours is a little crazy
TVFactFan 08-03-2011, 02:29 PM Didn't Sanford and Son first come in 1997 and then leave after a few years, but returning in 2003/2004?
I didn't get TV Land until I moved in my apt in 2000 and remember sanford and son was on the channel then. so it could have been on before 2000

I remember now, TV Land added S&S in January of 2003 and had a marathon. And it's been on TV Land ever since.

Pavan 08-19-2011, 09:35 PM The full schedule is on the first post, as always.
mets82 08-19-2011, 09:49 PM Thank you Pavan for reminding me.
TVFactFan 08-19-2011, 10:14 PM What a surprise, TV Land getting better while N@N getting worst-lol
Watching it on Saturday will be optional since it's already going to be on at night and on ANtenna TV. But it's better than Andy Griffith
Mrgman 08-19-2011, 10:51 PM Sweet more threes company. The only reason I watch tvland
mets82 08-19-2011, 11:26 PM So, Gunsmoke, Leave it To Beaver and Andy Griffith are all gone. I guess TV Land HAD to show Bonanza 5 hrs. every day from Monday to Friday and Everybody Loves Raymond for 4 hrs. on Saturday night. Yes, Im being sarcastic.

Gunsmoke was long overdue to be cut off the schedule
retrofan05 08-20-2011, 03:11 PM They really should remove Bonanza too and add more comedies. After all their slogan is "Laugh More." Dramas just don't make sense.
TVFactFan 08-20-2011, 04:11 PM Well getting rid of Gunsmoke is defntely a step in the right direction

Nope which is why the news is so shocking
Why do they show so much Three's Company?
Okay, yeah, I loved John Ritter as well but their worship of him is beginning to border on the creepy.
Also, why even bother with Boston Legal, even at 5am? The people who liked it have the season sets and it's available for free on Hulu.
janet42 08-21-2011, 10:42 AM I'm glad they are showing "Three's Company" on weekend afternoons. I am a big fan of it. I hope that they keep "Three's Company in the afternoons on Sat. and Sun. :)

Well they have only aired it in late nights the last few years....so it will be refreshing watching it during the day on weekends at least. I haven't watched it on TV Land in awhile since Antenna TV airs it in better timeslots.

That's true. I think it began to get bad in the fall of 2005 when they started the credit crunches. It got worse in late 2006/early 2007 when they started off the clock programming, but at least the programs then were still good. Things really got bad in late 2007/early 2008 when all the new reality and original programming came and it really hasn't been worth watching since then. I can't believe Andy Griffith is off the schedule after all this time. I remember it was in the 10PM timeslot for four straight years (2000-2004). I guess it's nice to see Three's Company at a better time now then it has been for so long.

Andy Griffith was on 8pm for a while too. Do you remember TV Land Prime? Yeah, and how did that work out?
BigManMike 08-23-2011, 09:03 PM I remember TV Land Prime. I know The Cosby Show sometimes was part of it and I loved that show. That's one of my favorite shows of all time. But the other stuff wasn't any good that was in TV Land Prime, and I never watched any of that, except an occasional Everybody Loves Raymond, but it's overdone on TV Land.
retrofan05 08-23-2011, 09:49 PM I sometimes wonder what kind of channel TV Land is going to morph into. If I had to guess, I'd say eventually it will be mostly originals with a handful of sitcoms from the 90's and beyond. It's hard to say, but seeing as classic shows continue to get the boot, there are definitely going to be major changes.
TVFactFan 08-23-2011, 09:59 PM TV Land is still 70% classic programming going by the schedule.
Unlike SH*T@NITE which is 0% classic programming
I remember when TV `Land launched solely for the old shows like Dick van Dyke, I Love Lucy, Batman, Green Acres and all the old stuff with the original commercials. Now, they became more modernized with "newer" shows and even original stuff. What happened?

It could not survive as a "Classic TV Only" network since cable tv started changing in 2000. It had to create reality tv and original programming for the advertisers.

Out of curiosity, I checked the TV Land schedule and it appears that they are doing every hour of the schedule off-the-clock except the 5AM hour (Boston Legal). How people can enjoy programming this way I'll never know. Plus, it's not just limited to TV Land, sister stations Nick @ Nite, Spike & CMT regularly go off-the-clock as well. It's sad and pathetic what these network executives do nowadays.
Regulus 09-01-2011, 06:27 AM  Ive mentioned this before on many other sites but I'm going to mention it again.
The Buffoons who run channels such as TV Land care only about ONE THING, their SHAREHOLDERS. God FORBID these people do NOT recaive a STOCK DIVIDEND that vdoes not have at least SEVEN DIGITS in it. They do not care about us, and If an employee of their Company were to be asked how they treat them, I'm sure they wouldn't say anything good about them. So what's a person to do?
Simple!
REVOLT!

I don't think it had anything to do with TV land or cable programming, just a poor economy and people losing jobs and they needed to make cuts.

The Pay-TV PLOWED THROUGH the last three Recessions (1980 -1982, 1990-1991 and 2001-2002 respectivly). Then again the QUALITY of what people were viewing was still there. Then, after the last recession, things went downhill faster than Wiley E. Coyote with an Anvil. High-Quality "Scripted" TV Shows were taken off the air one after the other, to be replaced with Low-Quality "Unscripted" Programming. If that wasn't enough, Commercials increased greatly in number, and "Pop-Up" Advertising began appearing during the programs themselves. Not to mention Subscription Prices have done nothing but CLIMB. :( There are some things people will hold on to even in the toughest of times. During the 1980-82 Recession I read of a Town in West Virginia who's biggest Employer, a Coal Mine, had shut down. 60% of the town worked for that mine, yet a year later, the town's Cable Provider had GAINED Customers, in spite of the Shutdown. It was reported that people actually discontinued their Telephone Service before resorting to cancelling their Cable Subscriptions.
Raising Prices AND Lowering Quality is a vicious circle, and many a company that does this eventually goes out of business because their customers finally decide it's no longer worth buying that product from that company. They then either seek that product from another company, or seek an alternate product to replace it. The Pay-TV Industry is smack in the middle of such a circle, and now they are reaping what they've sown. A House divided amist itself CANNOT STAND!

Well the recession caused me to eliminate the NBA Sports Package last year because I felt it was enough games on national TV for me to watch. Now I can't cut cable cpmpletely because I still like football.
But I do agree with the rise of digital channels, if you are not a sports fan you probably don't need cable.

Do you have one favorite NBA team? I ordered NBA League Pass Broadband the past two years so I could watch Suns games whenever I was able. In Canada, all we really get are Raptor games and some of the national TV games.
storrs19 09-04-2011, 12:39 PM I cancelled cable over a year ago. I got sick of paying for 200+ channels of which only 4 or 5 I watched. I don't have a favorite NBA team but if I did i wouldn't need to see all 82 games. Between NBATV, ESPN, TNT, ABC, and my local station, I get to see about 16 games a week without the league pass which is plenty.

That's how it should be, it does stink that I can CHOOSE the channels I want to watch and have a lower bill. I guess they figure if they did it that way they would not make much money. So they are hoping you discover new interests since you have 200 options

Don't be so pessamistic. There is a Lawsuit weaving its way through the Federal Courts stating that Pay-TV's "Bundling" (Which forces subscribers to get certain channels that they don't watch to get those they want to watch) VIOLATES the Anti-Trust Laws. If the Supreme Court were to rule in favor of this Lawsuit Pay-TV Providers will HAVE to offer their Channels A-La Carte. For the time being let's judt knock on wood and cross our fingers!

It looks like Scrubs returns October 5th, airing from 9pm-10pm weeknights. As a result, Everybody Loves Raymond moves to 10pm-12am and the marathons are 12am-5am.
Home Improvement moves to Friday late nights. The rest of the late night schedule is still the blocks of various shows, but too weird to post..
retrofan05 09-29-2011, 04:08 PM Wow. That's way too much Sanford & Son. There's no reason they couldn't have kept Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie on the schedule. Both would have fit perfectly with Dick Van Dyke.

They treated the show like SH*T anyway, 33 commercials breaks for a 30 minute sitcom. So it's good that it's gone
MikeLutton 09-29-2011, 10:44 PM it looks a lot better on tv one anyway
Wow. That's way too much Sanford & Son. There's no reason they couldn't have kept Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie on the schedule. Both would have fit perfectly with Dick Van Dyke.I agree. Too much Bonanza as well. I don't understand TV Land....the whole channel seems un-focused and is just a mess. They can't decide if they want to be a 90s-present channel or classic TV channel. Everything's off the clock. They say "Laugh More" but air 5 hours of Bonanza in the afternoon.
I don't get Home Improvement - to have been such a successful show, it doesn't really have a place on Nick at Nite anymore and must have failed on TV Land. I think it would be a nice show in the afternoon or early evening. Sad to see them apparently giving up on it entirely.

It really is a mess. It makes no sense to bring a "new" classic 1960's show to the network only to remove two other 60's shows; not to mention The Jeffersons, Good Times, and All in the Family. I mean, their morning and afternoon schedule is literally made up of three shows. That is ridiculous.
born2late 10-01-2011, 04:49 PM Nick at Nite use to show Donna Reed, Make Room for Daddy, etc. Then they started showing more recent "junk" IMO. Then came TV Land. It started off good with old classic shows you don't get to see any more, Then came Roseanne and the like...ugh! I wish they would show programs that haven't been shown in years such as 77 Sunset Strip. I love Gunsmoke, but how about the early episodes? There are other westerns they could show besides 5 hours of Bonanza. Don't know if it's true, but I heard the the same people who own or run MTV are the same ones that own or run TV Land. Look what happened to MTV. **stepping down from soapbox**
LUNCH 10-01-2011, 05:08 PM Yes TVLand are owned by Viacom who own MTV and alot of other cable tv stations. And they have ruined them all.Your best bet for seeing a show like 77 Sunset Strip or other top classics on a tv station is if Antenna or Me-tv decide to air them. Me-tv already airs the black and white episodes of Gunsmoke.
born2late 10-01-2011, 05:45 PM I've never heard of those, but I checked and they are not available in this area. Darn. I get my local programming from Nashville. I was getting some over the air channels like Retro TV. They had shows like Ozzie and Harriet, Jack Benny. I recently changed from cable to Dish, and I need to see about getting those channels to come in again. Around 2000, there was a channel called Goodlife that showed some 1950's programming. Guess it's gone now too. Thanks for the info.
mets82 10-01-2011, 07:33 PM Even when TV Land or Nick at Nite show classic or recent programming that is good, they run it into the ground. Everybody Love Raymond, The Nanny, Fresh Prince, Gunsmoke, Bonanza etc. One or two episodes isnt enough? They show marathons everyday of these shows.
TVFactFan 10-01-2011, 08:58 PM well atleast TV Land is showing a marathon of a different show on Monday, Dick van Dyke

I agree, but it doesn't make up for the fact that they dumped five other classics. They should have either kept those classics or acquired more "new" classics to go along with Dick Van Dyke.

Not to mention they'll cut out eight minutes of each episode and run it in their 17 minutes of show to 18 minutes of commercials format. :( :angryfire
I agree, but it doesn't make up for the fact that they dumped five other classics. They should have either kept those classics or acquired more "new" classics to go along with Dick Van Dyke.I agree. I see no reason to not keep Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Good Times, and The Jeffersons on the schedule. Or, if those had to go, why not bring Andy Griffith or Leave It to Beaver back to the weekday line-up? If anything needs to go, it's Sanford and Son. It's airing now more than ever.
I tried to watch Dick Van Dyke, but the off the clock schedule is too much. It seems like the breaks never end. I can't believe the whole schedule is like that. Just air more paid programming.

I think it'll do decently, I knew they wouldn't be able to hold back on it until 2012 or 2013. It also looks like maybe they've done away with off the clock programming at night? The off the clock times aren't listed on the website like they were, just mornings, afternoons, and late nights.

We have a story set for tomorrow. Some of that is not everyday.
TVFactFan 10-23-2011, 03:57 PM We have a story set for tomorrow. Some of that is not everyday.
Damm I got excited for nothing, that 7pm to 9pm block was defintely going to give Ant TV so competition
Pavan 10-23-2011, 05:16 PM I didn't say that was the part that isn't everyday...
If the schedule page is right, the primetime schedule is the same during the week except on Wednesdays with Hot In Cleveland at 10pm. I guess it may be different during the day and of course on the weekends, which I didn't bother to post.
stevejay 11-09-2011, 04:57 PM TV Land changes again. Who can keep up with the channel? Maybe that's why the program guide on our cable system is always wrong when it comes to TV Land. Wrong shows or wrong program descriptions. A couple of thoughts...I haven't posted in a long time and no longer post on the TV Land site because they always delete the posts if they don't like them. TV Land has done a terrible job in the past few years...they have done well with their original programming but everything else has failed. I love their new image "Laugh More" and then Bonanza shows up. Extreme makeover...now that's a laugh. They run the same shows over and over and many times, the same shows on Saturday, they replay on Sunday...the same episodes. I know it's a cost savings but why not just kill the channel? Off the clock programming...that is horrible but look at how many Viacom stations are doing it. Maybe if they had good programming, the ratings would be there and they wouldn't owe Make goods to every advertiser because the ratings were too low. King of Queens...Spike sure gave that a long run to get viewers. Was it even on a week? If it doesn't get a big audience in 1 day, let's cancel the show. They just don't allow a show to grow and audience. They remind me of a radio station that changes format on a daily basis. How about the cuts they are making in the shows? I know All In The Family is gone but they butchered the show. How about slicing out parts of the plot? It reminds me of how Hallmark Channel killed I Love Lucy. Taking a 25 minute show and making it into a 15 minute show by cutting it so bad. That's why sitcoms can never work on Hallmark. By the way...TV Land on the program guides should just put down "Commercials" then run a couple of minutes of the show per half hour. I can't believe how many minutes of commercials they run in the 35 minute sitcoms. 25 minutes of commercials and they actually sneak in some of the show every once in a while. But, I can actually watch another show on another channel at the same time because I usually know how minutes till the show comes back on. Shall I continue?

Yes the editing is awful, tv land is not the station to record from
born2late 11-09-2011, 07:12 PM Do they really have to have 4 hours of Bonanza? Dick Van Dyke got moved to mornings for now...crap. They need to give MASH, Raymond, and Roseanne a break, and put some real classics on.
TVFactFan 11-09-2011, 07:25 PM TV Land schedule no longer bothers me because of the channels below
Centric
Antenna TV
TV One
None of these channels existed before 2004
born2late 11-09-2011, 10:55 PM If I had alternatives, I wouldn't care either. Wish they would come to my area. :(

I have alternatives. They're called "DVDs". :D
mets82 11-11-2011, 10:14 PM Its nice seeing Leave it to Beaver, Andy Griffith, Dick Van Dyke back on TV Land. But before I give them a whole lot of credit, I wonder why they are back on? Did they have a change in heart as far as classic tv goes? Or did people annoy them so much that they had to change it? And yes, the off the clock stuff ticks me off!! I watched Roseanne and in the first 15 mins. of the show, I saw maybe 4 or 5 mins. of the actual show and the rest commericals:mad:  It makes me mad and I dont get the point. You know, why dont they pass a law about the off the clock stuff. GET RID OF IT!!
stevejay 11-15-2011, 02:51 PM I watched The King of Queens Sunday night from 9:30 to 10 and that was enough for me. I love the show on TBS and I have the whole series on DVD but TV Land should have promoted the marathon as "It's A Commercial Marathon" and see what we add in between commercials. They are killing the channel. I do understand the need to make money so they can pay for a good show like that but I think they stopped 4 or more times in the half hour for commercials. I just couldn't watch it anymore.
LUNCH 11-15-2011, 03:45 PM They can show less than 1 third the amount of commercials, and still make a fortune. It does not matter how expensive the show is or not. They are criminals plain and simple, and it's not only TV/Commercial-land.It's most American commercial tv stations nowadays.Really I don't know how anyone in their right mind can watch these stations unless they are into some form of self-abuse.That's one reason I started a thread a few months ago about the obscene amount of commercials on American television, and what a con-game these stations are playing and are allowed to get away with.

TV Land is not the channel to watch your favorite show
wyattlogan 11-22-2011, 05:21 AM TV Land is not the channel to watch your favorite show
yeah ! That's right
James28 11-30-2011, 09:59 PM Could anything be the reason why TV Land has not aired any old TV sitcoms that they have not reran throughout their existence? (short-lived TV shows don't count).
rezny717 12-01-2011, 12:09 AM TV Land is not the channel to watch your favorite show
You got that right. And the classics they DO air,are cut to bits, and not enjoyable.Thank heavens for DVD's.
When did Home Improvement replace Roseanne from ~8pm-9pm?
Pavan 12-05-2011, 09:08 PM When did Home Improvement replace Roseanne from ~8pm-9pm?
Last minute change that started tonight.
icecream 12-06-2011, 06:13 PM I love this change! Home Improvement is 1000 times better than Roseanne. And on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays I watch Last Man Standing, The Middle, and The Big Bang Theory, but don't like the 8:30 shows airing after them.
