Anyone looking for a three-hour tour on the S.S. Minnow, made famous in the 1960s television comedy Gilligan's Island?
Re/Max of Nanaimo is holding a fundraiser for the B.C. Children's Hospital that has a three-hour tour of the Gulf Islands on the S.S. Minnow as part of the main prize.
The package, which totals almost $4,000, also includes an overnight stay for four people at the Coast Bastion Inn, dinner at the Coast Bastion's Minnoz's Restaurant, limousine service to and from the S.S. Minnow and eight one-way tickets on Harbour Air. Although Gilligan's Island filming used a handful of replica S.S. Minnow vessels, the one that is part of the fundraiser is the original boat shot in the opening credits of the show. Owned by Ken Schley, one of the owners of the Quality Foods chain, the boat is primarily used these days for charity events.
Tickets for the draw, on Aug. 2, can be purchased at www.remaxofnanaimo.com, and at the Re/max location at 1-5140 Metral Dr. Only 2,500 of the $20 tickets will be sold.
"Re/Max staff already donate a portion of our pay to the Children's Miracle Network, and now we're looking for other ways to give back to the community," said realtor Graeme Parker.
