As a 1960's blonde bombshell, she didn't understand why she had to wear outfits that didn't show her figure. She said, "Look, if you wanted someone in this role to look like a boy, why didn't you hire one?!?"

Did she have a point?

I don't recall her wearing anything on the show that a boy would wear. She was a beautiful woman and it was always made apparent.

I don't think the producers had a chance to go through a full casting process to find the right "type" when Pat Priest was cast. Beverly Owen, the original Marilyn Munster, wanted to leave the series so the producers had to quickly find another blonde actress to fill the role.

Before I begin that is some TV page, an ad for the Clay vs. Liston rematch
(1st round knockout) taking place the next evening, and the 1st broadcast of the National Driving Test on CBS which led to a bunch of follow-ups and eventually led to 60 Minutes.

I think Pat's biggest problem may not have been the producers but may in fact have been Yvonne De Carlo. De Carlo didn't want to get upstaged by some young headturner especially when she was in heavy "Bride of Frankenstiein" make-up. I recall reading some comments made by Beverly Owen concerning a difficult interaction she had with De Carlo over a perception on De Carlo's part that Owen had attempted to upstage her in one scene.

If you read the recently-released "Living Room Legends: Chat with TV's Famous Faces" by Eddie Lucas, she says her "negative" experience with Yvonne De Carlo was really short-lived. She said, "Eventually, Yvonne and I got along fine. We went to lunch together frequently, and our boys were the same age, so I was friendly with Yvonne." She said once the series ended, she never saw Fred Gwynne again, and only saw Yvonne once.

It is like with any job. You leave a job, and many of the people you have worked with you never see again. It doesn't mean you don't get along necessarily. It is just a job....when the job ends, everyone goes their separate ways. Such is life.
