Miami Dolphin-to-be Reggie Bush, an avid Twitter user, went silent Wednesday as the New Orleans Saints traded him to the Miami Dolphins.
Sports fans — and Bush’s 1.8 million Twitter followers — waited for his first tweet of the day Thursday.
It finally came at around 3 p.m. Bush sounded excited to be coming to Miami and also wished the best to his former Saints team mates.
Bush’s tweet was quickly followed by a welcome to Miami tweet from Heat star Dwayne Wade.
Bush tweeted:
Change is never easy but I look forward to building something special in Miami and can't wait to embark on this new journey! Here we go...
Then he added:
I wish the New Orleans Saints the best of luck I will always be a fan! The team, coaches, and fans will be deeply missed!
And Wade’s Twitter welcome to Bush:
Every1 knows I'm a BEAR 4 life bit I do support the FINS..so welcome @reggie_bush to our beloved city..(thank you bro! )
The Miami Dolphins have completed the trade for Reggie Bush by sending safety Jonathon Amaya and an undisclosed draft pick to the New Orleans Saints.
Bush was acquired Thursday, when he agreed to a two-year contract for nearly $10 million with the Dolphins. Bush was due about $11.8 million this season, the final year of his contract with the Saints, who face salary-cap constraints.
Bush is a dynamic kick returner and receiver out of the backfield when he is healthy. But he’s been plagued by a series of injuries in his career. Still, he gained 4,982 all-purpose yards for the Saints and scored 33 touchdowns.
Amaya was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada in 2010. He led the team with 15 tackles on special teams.
