Hey All,

All the episodes on DVD so far are just BEAUTIFUL audio and video transfers! But in the tag sequence for "Beaver's Jacket" when Richard's Mother calls the Cleaver's house, you can't hear what June is saying on the DVD. But it is clear on TV Land and Syndicated prints. (The volume might have been altered from the original master print restored on the DVD, who's sound is too low in that one instance.)

What does June say in regard to what Richard's Mother calls about?

Basically, Richard's mother thought the boys still had their jackets switched. June gave the phone to Ward and asked him to explain it, end of episode.

I have noticed with these Leave It To Beaver DVD's that on some episodes the sound wobbles back and forth, it fades for a few seconds and then it will get louder again. Another thing is the episodes are arranged in airdate order which causes a lot of continuity errors if you watch the episodes in that order. Leave It To Beaver is one of those shows that should be viewed in production order. They also could have been more imaginative and created a different episode menu for each season, having the same menu design for all six seasons, episode titles written in cement to match season one, is not cool. And the episode menus for season six use the theme music from previous seasons. It is not the season six version of the theme song.

I'm glad the DVD's came out, but Shout Factory could have done a better job with a number of things. It's like they were in a rush to get this out so they could start raking in the cash.

Even though that is one ep I have not seen in a long time, it's one of the few for which I could quote virtually the entire dialogue. The tag scene:

[June is in living room sewing on Beaver's jacket; Ward is sitting closeby.]
Ward: What are you doing, dear?
June: I'm sewing a name tag in Beaver's jacket.
Ward: You're sure that's Beaver's now?
June: [Chuckles] Oh, yes. Richard got it back from the cleaners today and Beaver went over there to get it and give back Richard's.
Ward: Good. You know, I--
[Phone rings; June answers.]
June: Hello ... oh yes ... ohh? [Ward senses there must be something not right; he rises from his seat], could you please hold on while I speak with my husband?
Ward: Who is it?
June [quietly]: It's Richard's mother; I think it's starting all over again.
Ward: What's starting all over again?
June: About the jackets-- she thinks the boys have them switched. She picked up what she thought was Richard's jacket from the cleaners today, then she looked in the closet and there's a dirty one there, and she's sure it's Beaver's.
Ward: Well, if we tell her what happened now, she'll wonder why we held back so long.
June: Yes; she's also going to wonder why we let her go ahead and clean Beaver's jacket.
Ward: That is a problem, isn't it?
[June holds out receiver and dumb Ward takes it.]
June: Dear, I have to get dinner started-- you explain it to her [hurries away].
Ward: Oh, June!-- June! [Reluctantlly puts receiver to his ear] Hello, Mrs. Rickover? This is Mr. Cleaver. Well, I'll tell you what happened-- it's, uh-- kind o' funny.... [End]

Thanks for this!

In this tag sequence, Ward is not quite as on the ball about stuff as he almost always is. (The exception to Ward being knowledgeable about problems and issues seems to be in this tag sequence.)
