Nickelodeon has brought back its '90s programming and "Clarissa Explains It All" star Melissa Joan Hart is psyched to relive her awkward teen years.
My first show, "Clarissa Explains It All" is back on television as well.
Yes it's on Nickelodeon, The 90's are All That, it is called.
Is that kind of funny to you? I mean your boys are really little, do they know that mommy was an actor when she was little?
No. (laughs)
Actually there was picture in a newspaper recently and I showed them the picture of me when I was twelve years old. I had missing teeth and my eyebrows were all bushy. My mom wouldn't let them touch my face.
I showed them and was like 'Look, that's mommy when she was little' and they were like 'eh' (laughs).
I'm really excited, I mean it hasn't been on the air in over a decade, right? Only 1 season is currently on DVD. The show hasn't been seen in a long time and I'm excited to see how it holds up.
It was kind of a ground-breaking show for Nickelodeon.
I believe it was one of the first sitcoms that Nickelodeon ever did. They were basically a variety and game show network and it was one of the shows that they took a risk on.
Also, it was the first time that girls would have boy viewers. You know before that people always said 'boys won't watch a girl show' and we broke ground by proving that boys will watch a girl.
And then I was able to do it three more times (laughs).
Do you have a favorite memory from "Clarissa Explains It All"?
Oh gosh, there are so many because I went through so much on that set. I was in high school, I graduated, I learned how to drive a car.. I mean I did a lot of that set.. having my first boyfriend.
Probably my favorite memory was when they threw me a graduation. They did the same thing recently for my co-star Taylor Spreitler who just graduated. When you're being tutored and you're in school it becomes very confusing and I really didn't have a real graduation.
So what they did for me was the wardrobe got me a cap and gown, prop dept. made me a podium, they cleared off the set, they gave a speech, we had a foot-long banner.
