It sure is funny if you take a great show and go back to the pilot, it's usually completely different from the flavor of the show. Perhaps the cast was even changed (Barney was Andy's cousin in the pilot of the Andy Griffith Show, Chuck was cut from Happy Days, Eddy & Lilly were replaced from the Munsters, Capt. Dobey was replaced from Starsky and Hutch, etc, etc.).

Frasier, however, was fantastic from the "get-go" and great all the way through. Of course, everyone has their least fave, but in other shows, it seems like they should have made their changes before filming.

The shows mentioned were just examples. I know the Starsky and Hutch pilot is an actual movie before the series started and the Munster's pilot is an unfinished pilot.

I agree that Frasier was the best pilot ever!I mean, it was hilarious, it introduced every one and even provided a bit of back story. A lot of pilots just start "in the middle" and then take a while to fill you in on the details.
