View Full Version : Trying to remember a ghost episode
alistaircrane 07-23-2011, 05:38 PM This is going to sound so very vague, and for some reason I feel like this may have aired Inside Edition or A Current Affair or something, but any help would be greatly appreciated!
I was pretty young when this aired, but I remember a really scary ghost story with the re-enactment centering around the living room/fireplace. There was a freaky face involved.
Again, very vague but please respond if it jogs your memory!
Apostapler 07-24-2011, 12:30 AM Huh boy...ghosts are one of my favorite types of segments, but I think we need just a bit more.
1990 UM fan 07-24-2011, 12:54 AM Doesn't sound familiar. The only UM episodes with ghost faces involved that I know of were where this girl talked to deceased people and their faces floated around her bed and one where at this hotel the past owner's face appeared in the mirror in the men's restroom. Creepy stuff.

Maybe it's the "Nevada Haunting"? The boy runs out of the house because he hears all these voices and when he turns back he sees the door slamming and a scary looking face in the window.

Sounds like "In Search of...the Amityville Horror".
There is a scene during a re-enactment where the owner of the house, George Lutz, is staring into the fire place and a demonic face looks out at him from behind the flames.

Did the face belong to a kid? I remember one segment about a haunted hotel where a member of the wait staff saw a kid at the bar with a disfigured face. Creepy as hell. Unfortunately, this is all that I remember...

The General Wayne's Inn segment? Not sure if we're thinking of the same one, but that one had a human head appearing in the kitchen. Freaked me out as a kid!
alistaircrane 07-29-2011, 05:59 PM Hmmm...thanks for the help everyone. Sorry for the vague clues, but I'm trying to remember something I haven't seen in about 20 years.
I remember the living room was very white and there may have been an exorcism involved.

Could it be the Mann House? Definitely had an exorcism, a weird mist, and a lamp that burst into flames (which is what I remembered most as a kid watching it, haha).

This one looks familiar! I'm going to look into it.
alistaircrane 08-02-2011, 03:54 PM Thanks for the Mann house tips. I think it might be the one, but I don't think I'll ever remember. I found a clip and it seemed pretty familiar but I'm not sure if I was just projecting. All of this is based on a vague memory from when I was about 5.
Did A Current Affair or Inside Edition ever do "ghost" stories?
Also, did Unsolved Mysteries air back to back with Rescue 911? I feel like I saw both these shows together (my mom was probably watching them).
No worries, I honestly think it is the Mann House because it just seemed to 'fit' your criteria when I think about it in my mind. I haven't seen the episode in awhile but some parts still stand out, haha.
As far as Rescue 911 goes, I'm not sure if it was bundled with UM back to back, but I definitely remember it being one of those 'must watch' shows as a kid that was not a kids show. I'll never forget the kid who was babysitting and got his tongue stuck in a freezer. Something about William Shatner narrating that made it even more...comedic? It wasn't supposed to be funny, obviously, but it was one of those Rescue 911 sequences that didn't fit with snow plow drivers getting covered in avalanches, or a guy having a heart attack while running a marathon, you know?
alistaircranium 07-18-2017, 12:32 PM I just watched the Mann house the other night and I think it's the segment! It would have aired when I was 7, and I can remember things from that age pretty well. I think the composite photo was me blending two vague UM mysteries together.
And yes, I have a different username now. I no longer have the email address associated with that account and had to start fresh. Can't believe I've been posting here for almost 7 years.
