The Pro Football Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio has officially been canceled.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made the announcement at a news conference after the league's owners approved a 10-year new collective bargining agreement.
Goodell says Thursday that the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will go on as planned but says "the time is just too short" to have the teams prepare and play the game as scheduled.

The game was scheduled for Sunday, August 7 between the St. Louis Rams and Chicago Bears.

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher told ESPN on Thursday he did not expect the game to be played.

The Bears were scheduled to open camp on Friday, July 22nd.

The Chicago Sun Times originally reported the Hall of Fame game would be canceled on Friday, July 15th.

Yea it sucks. It was just announced that the players aren't going to vote on the agreement tonight. I'm getting fed up with all this.

And don't be surprised Super Bowl XLVI will be played in 2013 rather than in 2012.
