Audra McDonald To Perform At NYC's First Gay Marriage

"Private Practice" star Audra McDonald will be the star performer at New York's first legal same-sex marriage ceremony this weekend (24Jul11).
Politicians in the Big Apple passed a bill last month (Jun11) allowing gay partners to wed, and the law will come into force at midnight on Sunday (24Jul11).
The first official same-sex union will be officiated by the city's Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Tony Award winner McDonald has been invited to sing at the historical occasion.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Gonna sing at the celebration of the first gay marriage officiated by Mayor Bloomberg this weekend. So honoured and excited!"
