I remember as a kid, when season 5 premiered, I couldn't believe that was the same girl from the season before with curlier hair, glasses and braces. I thought it was the first of the fake Brady girls!

The change from the previous season was incredible!

Wow, thanks for those pics biff! When did she take these? I'm assuming she did these after the show ended! Like around the time her TV movie Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway aired in 1976. I wasn't even born until a year after that came out and only found out about them recently.

Jan also had better than Marcia by this point. It was so soft, shimmering and golden. She definitely had the best hair of the entire cast in the fifth season!

I found those online some time ago, but neglected to take down any info. If I'm not mistaken they were scanned from a magazine article. I went ahead and posted them because her look doesn't seem too far removed from Season 5.

There's no dispute that the 5th season Jan surpassed Marcia in hotness. It was quite a transformation from the 4th season glasses and braces Jan to the 5th season lovely Jan. I've always thought Marcia looked her cutest in the 2nd and 3rd seasons. By the 4th season, Marcia started becoming a blonde and she wasn't as cute anymore. Jan looked great as a blonde. Marcia looked best as a brunette.

Marcia did look better with light brown hair in the 3rd season. She looked great in the 4th, but not that "innocent" if you know what I mean!

I saw a little bit of the last episode (about Greg's orange hair) and I noticed how >ahem< "mature" Cindy was starting to get.


Susan Olsen "hotness" point started when The Brady Bunch Variety Hour premiered (imo). Of course, Eve was not on this show, as she was involved in those "Dawn" movies.

I think she could have done it but I guess she didn't want to have to be compared to Maureen again. Personally I think they were equals by this point!

In her book, Maureen talks about how she noticed that Eve was 'developing' faster than herself. She really did blossom, and it happened pretty quickly...!

Jan was definitely my favorite Brady girl as Peter was my favorite Brady boy. They had some of the best stories, even if they were middle children.

In a way, BOTH Peter and Jan were the middle children in each set of kids, and as a whole together.


Peter usually got all the clumsy, jokey stories while Jan got the more serious ones. Those were some of the better episodes.



In season 5, She definitely changed.

I thought at the time the show aired that Marcia was better looking in S4 than in S5. But I could never quite figure out why. It wasn't just the fact that Jan got so much hotter, there was something about Marcia that was just a little less hot.

Then, a couple of years ago, someone here at S.O. posted a comment that explained it all.

In Season 5, Marcia's hair was more blonde than it had ever been, but her eyebrows were still very dark, compared to her hair. You can see this in some of the screen caps that are posted in this thread.

IMO, that made all the difference. As a guy, I don't know if I would have ever figured that out myself. But I just knew there was SOMETHING strange about Marcia's appearance in S5, I just couldn't put my finger on it...but that was it.

Jan's eyebrows didn't clash with her hair. And, as pointed out earlier, she did smile a lot more in S5 than she used to, and by S5 she had a great smile.

Jan looked great! I really don't get the Marcia craze.

I'll take Jan over Marcia. She was more natural and her stories were better. I'm going to buy season 5.

Carol and the Brady girls were ALL brunette...with hair of gold just like their mother.
