View Full Version : I Love The Sitcom 'Taxi', But This Has to Be The Worst Episode Of The Series
Brian Damage 07-16-2011, 11:14 PM I guess it was the episode where everybody day dreams and it all ends with a big musical number by Elaine Nardo.

I think you are correct
catlover79 07-17-2011, 02:33 PM Also, I believe that it was a season finale. Maybe the writers were just burned out.
Adamantium 07-17-2011, 05:30 PM It was a two-parter. I don't think the episode overall is all that great. There are some very good moments in it. I actually really like that Broadway number at the end. I mean it was done as a fantasy. It's not like the characters themselves just started singing and the garage lit up. It seems to be the thing in recent years to have a musical episode. This was done before that and I know the whole episode wasn't a musical but this memorable scene was.
Adamantium 07-17-2011, 05:34 PM My pick for worst episode is probably the season three dud "The Costume Party." I was just so bored with that episode. Sure it had it's moments, it was "Taxi", it couldn't be all bad. ;)
I also don't care for "Louie's Mom Remarries."
Skywalker 07-17-2011, 07:55 PM While it's not one of my all time favorites, it's not bad either. You had Alex dreaming about falling in love with Priscilla Barnes and it turns out he's her uncle, not to mention Louie dreaming about being married to Elaine. Yeah, "Lullaby on Broadway" was kinda cheesy, but Nardo showed so much leg in that scene, it's hard to hate.

"When Maxie started driving, the Brooklyn Bridge was dental work!! Ahhh, Maxie, you're not old, just middle-aged!"
MrRetro_08 07-24-2011, 02:55 PM It was a corny episode
Ignatowski 07-28-2011, 09:50 AM Yeah if not the worst it was close. I usually didnt like the 2 part episodes. The only saving grace for this was how fine n dandy Marilu looked in that blue dress and the showgirl outfit. :happyface
catlover79 07-28-2011, 09:41 PM Far and away, the best of the show's two-parters was "Shut It Down" - I can't remember if that was in the second or third season.

Second Season. In production order it's the two episodes directly before the fantasy two-parter.

Thanks!!
ThomasE 10-02-2011, 08:03 PM This was one of my favorite episodes. I loved the cast singing "Lullaby of Broadway". Now I'm singing it. LOL. I loved it when Latka came out in his uniform holding firecrackers during the number. LOL.
The Flying Dutchmans 10-22-2011, 10:56 PM This was not the worst for me. It wasn't the best either. I have to say it was in the 1st season. When John and his Wife were arguing about who had to quit school so the other one could work, and I think Alex loaned them some money. I hated that epsode. I didn't like most of the episodes with Simka either. I don't know why but she just agrivated me. I did like the 2 parter about Cab 804 allot. That was the only 2 parter I did like.
Yong Fang 11-07-2011, 08:11 AM TAXI was a very well made and professional production, especially for a sitcom. Several of the performers were Broadway stars and they are all good actors, including Tony Danza.
The only one I disliked was Andy Kaufman. But even Kaufman was OK in the show in measurable doses and he was a good enough actor that I saw past Kaufman and saw Latka. I just thought Kaufman was a butthole with his intergender wrestling and his snobbishly bad, performance art. The epsiodes I thought sucked on Taxi was Latka's split personality, Vic Ferrari or whoever his name was.
Sometimes the show got a little too "artsy" if that makes any sense, they would add some light drama and many of the episodes were very touching. Workplace comedies get stuck in a rut because they usually happen at work, with limited things to write about, so sometimes the writers have to think "outside the box" for ideas.
