I know this was set to the Korean War, but dang if this show didn't upset you one way or the other. Any thoughts?

The first three seasons of MASH was indeed a comedy. In fact, as far as I am concerned, the series ends with "Abyssinia, Henry". Very little after that was worth watching.
Here is the problem: MASH began as a straight comedy, interupted by sudden moments of unexpected drama. By the time it ended, MASH was a straight drama, interupted by sudden moments of unexpected comedy.

It's kinda hard to have a sitcom based on war and the life and death struggle of doctors without drama creeping in eventually.

true, but there's no reason to go overboard with the drama and be like: "oh, wer're doctors and we're nurses, and we're so good cause we save lives; and death is such a bummer..."

My thoughts exactly!
