"CHiPs" Star Erik Estrada Helps L.A. Drivers Prepare for 'Carmageddon'

In a case of "I'm not a cop but I play one on TV ... " veteran "CHiPs" star Erik Estrada has teamed up with "real motorcycle police officers" for a PSA warning Los Angelenos about the oncoming cataclysm known as "Carmageddon."
L.A. drivers are preparing for a 53-hour shutdown of a 10-mile stretch of the I-405 from July 15th to 18th, which could paralyze the whole area.
In true Hollywood style, L.A. Metro asked Estrada -- a.k.a. Officer Frank "Ponch" Poncharello -- to record the PSA (in English and Spanish) reminding drivers to stay away from the area during the closure.
In real life he serves as a reserve police officer, and he told TMZ that he's always happy to help out his fellow cops: "When law enforcement asks for help, the answer is always yes."
