Hey guys,

30 years ago, we were introduced to the Smurfs

The Smurfs debut in the Fall of 1981 on NBC Saturday Mornings

and now, 30 years later, The Smurfs are back, this time, they are coming to a Theater Near You

That's right, Columbia Pictures A Sony Pictures Entertainment Company will be producing The Smurfs which will open in theaters in 3 weeks on July 29, 2011

It will be the first CGI/live-action hybrid film in The Smurfs trilogy

The Film is also Produced by Jordan Kerner and Directed by Raja Gosnell

The Film will star Neil Patrick Harris of Doogie Howser, M.D., Stark Raving Mad and How I Met Your Mother, Jayma Mays of Glee, Hank Azaria of The Simpsons and Herman's Head and Sofía Vergara of Modern Family and the Films Chasing Papi and Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns and Madea Goes to Jail

The Film will also Features voices by the likes of

Legendary Comedian/Actor Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf

Singer/Songwriter/Musician Katy Perry as Smurfette

Anton Yelchin of TV's Huff as Clumsy Smurf

Cabaret Star Alan Cumming as Gutsy Smurf, a new Smurf who didn't appear in the comics or in the animated show

Famed Comedian/Actor George Lopez as Grouchy Smurf

SNL Alumni Fred Armisen as Brainy Smurf

Famed/Comedian Actor Jeff Foxworthy as Handy Smurf

Pee-Wee Herman Himself Paul Reubens as Jokey Smurf

Veteran Actor Gary Basaraba as Hefty Smurf

British Comedian John Oliver as Vanity Smurf

It looks like a cute movie. I want to see it. I remember watching the cartoon The Smurfs as a child.

Another movie that looks cute that I want to see is coming out in late November called The Muppets.

My husband and I saw the previews for this when we went to see Kung Fu Panda 2. I wouldn't go see it in the theatre, but I might Netflix it. It looked kind of cute.

Wasn't there already a movie with blue people? Oh wait, that was Avatar.
