Are your pets social or cautious? Do your pets hide when people are around or soak up the attention?

My cat Cuddles is social, while my cat Romeo has become more anti-social over time. Romeo follows me around like ususal, but when other people come over, esp. strangers, he freaks out and hides. I'm not sure why. He is more needy then Cuddles. I wonder if my mother and sister moving out last year has part to do with him being less social.

Shy. They're fine with the four humans they live with, but whenever visitors come - they turn into vapor!!! They usually hide under the eaves until the visitor(s) leave.

I think he likes the fact I'll stop and play with him for a little bit... I used to find cats quite snobbish, as though they look down on people (rather than the other way around... literally speaking, of course), but this cat isn't like that at all, and made me like cats in general...

My cat, Pookie, loves meeting new people. She isn't very fond of children though.

My cat was only a year old when we rescued her off the streets. At first she was shy and anti-social, but as time went on and she realized we weren't out to hurt her she has become very social. The strange thing was even when we first got her she had to investigate every stranger that entered the house.

I figured, what the hay, I'll give a cat a try. I went out and bought a shaded silver Persian. He looked exactly like the cat in the Fancy Feast commercials; mainly white, with silver running through. I named him Foxy, for the silver fox.

I just fell in love with the little guy. He was my shadow, slept behind my head every night, lol. After almost 17 wonderful years with him, he got sick with kidney disease, and I had to put him down. Saying good-bye to him was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, and I'm no stranger to loss. It still hurts a great deal. We got two Persians right after Foxy died. Two little dolls; still, I learned that like people, cats can't be replaced.

Some cats are snobbish and look down on people, so you're not wrong there, lol. The reason I buy Persians is that it's almost a guarantee that the cat will be sweet and affectionate. They're the Golden Retriever of cats. I know that other breeds are the same way, but I don't know what they are. Many people have mixed breed cats that are loveable, yet I think it's a roll of the dice getting them, if expecting a loving and attentive cat. And mercifully, I'll end this post. :)

I myself own two female cats, which I named Shiloh and Sparkles. Shiloh is all black or Bombay with a white patch on her chest which is known as "tuxedo" and Sparkles is a gray tiger tabby which is known as a "mackerel" because she has a distinctive "M" marking on her forehead.
Shiloh is the most sweetest, loving cat I have ever owned. She is very social with everyone. She will climb on you and love you and cuddle with you, she will even give you little kisses with her tongue. She is very quiet and reserved most of the time.
Sparkles is less social, she has to get to know you first. Once she gets to know you she won't leave you alone. She is more vocal than Shiloh and more outgoing. She is very sweet though.
I have had them both since they were two months old and they were the cutest kittens ever. :)
I have always been a cat person, I love dogs too but there is just something about cats, I can't explain it. I guess I understand them and they understand me. They are beautiful, amazing creatures and are very smart. People don't realize how smart cats really are, they are very independent so that makes them hard to train but they really are very intelligent. I do prefer female cats over male cats because they aren't as independent and territorial as male cats and they don't mark everything. Although I have had male cats before and loved them very much, I prefer female cats.

Foxy sounds like he was so great to have. :) I know it's so hard losing a pet. It's great that you have Lily and Cesar. :)

I have Guinea Pigs, so that's different.

Oreo, Eyes, and Nose likes to be picked-up and held...Ears doesn't.

Oreo and Eyes are Boars, Nose and Ears are Sows.

My cat Romeo is a tuxedo kitty also. He has the white paws, white chest and a little white spot on his forehead. I sometimes joke and call him Mr. Heavypants because he's about 16 lbs. :lol:
My cat Cuddles is half tabby half Simese. She's smaller than and weights less than Romeo. :)
I had a cat for six years named Chava that was a tabby kitty. He used to love to follow me around. :)

Cats are so cute and huggable [well when they let you hug then, lol). :)

I'm pretty sure my little cat friend is some type of Persian cat... I actually once bought a book about cats at a book sale, called 'You & Your Cat' (lol - I don't even have one... I only bought it to try and understand the behaviour of my little friend a bit better), and my little friend definitely looks like a type of Persian cat, in the section on cat breeds... I'm definitely not naturally a cat (or dog) person... I've had a lifelong love of horses, and that's my ideal animal to own, and I've never really wanted a second best pet (like a cat or dog) lol... My affection for cats has grown because of my little friend, and I'd be very upset if anything unfortunate happened to him, so I definitely understand why you felt the loss of your Persian cat hard, as a part of your family...

The cat and the dog are both anti social,they dont want anything to do with anybody or each other. I kept finding pieces of cat litter in the dog's waterbowl and thought the dog was doing it, then I caught the cat one night dipping his paws in the bowl. He would use his litterbox and then wash his paws in the dog's water. No wonder they hate each other.

My dog Barkley is very socialable. In fact, my mother and I have to tell him numerous times to get off of people, but he is a stubborn little Jack Russell. However, this is with people he is this way but when it comes to other animals you can tell he is uncomfortable when they come up to him but then there are other times that he is just snobbish and won't even acknowledge them.

I have two cats, and Gideon has been adopted by my entire neighborhood. Everytime one of my neighbors sees me they ask if Gideon can come out. He'll come outside, lay on his back, and let everyone rub his belly. He's got the entire community rapped around his little paw.

My little girl cat, Dinah, is not quite that outgoing, but she'll still come out and say hello to anyone she recognizes and let them pet her.

They love everyone, those spoiled little brats!

My dog is definitely social - she is a people nut! I even take her for walks at night (its so hot as well), mainly because she embarrasses me with how over the top excited she gets when she sees people or other animals :lol: Saying she loves people and being in the thick of things is putting it mildly.

One of my cats is VERY shy; she only really knows me. She will hover around other people, but in general she stays at a distance. I think if I weren't around she'd be forced to come out of her shell a bit more though.

My other cat is pretty social. She likes to investigate people and rub up against them. She's very jealous of me, too. Doesn't like other people paying attention to me...!
