Sgt. Sol has ruined his feet after 25 years on the force. So NYC's finest decide to buy him a surprise gift. (Good move). So they elect Toody chairman of the gift committee. (VERY bad move).

Kind-hearted Toody keeps changing his mind and calling meetings. But then Toody really does find the perfect gift: orthopedic shoes, that have to be personally fitted without Sgt. Shol knowing about it.

Can our heroes think up a plan intelligent enough to work? Of course not. Can they dream up a plan stupid enough to work?

There's a tear-jerker ending that makes the whole show one of their better ones.

I have the first two eps on VHS. This was the second ep of the series and,
while it's not as hilarious as the first one ("Who's for Swordfish?"), it is still a
very entertaining episode. It also has this classic line from Officer Muldoon:

Muldoon: "Let me tell you about Gunther Toody. For nine years, I've been his partner and had a chance to study this man, get to know him and learn what kind of a guy he really is. He's a NUT!"
