View Full Version : A stranger hugged my mom, weird or not?
Brad Russ 07-04-2011, 04:10 AM A couple months ago, my mom told me something that I thought was incredibly strange. She told me that the gas station guy at Shell asked her if he could give her a hug, and she did. Do you guys think this is a strange request considering the fact that the guy doesn't really even know her, except for the ten seconds of small talk that they have every few days when my mom gets gas? Do you think I'm making too much out of nothing, or do you agree with me that this guys behavior was odd? I don't know, he's probably just an overly affectionate lonely dude.

plus she smells like gas now.
Miss Lisa 07-04-2011, 07:48 PM I mean, I'm a "huggy" type person. When ever I see my friends or someone I know, I hug them. But, a stranger? I don't think I could see myself doing that one. That is kind of weird.
Brad Russ 07-04-2011, 08:02 PM I'm a hugger to. Hugs are awesome when you're giving them to the people you love, and care about. I just get this nice fuzzy feeling inside of me when I hug. Here's a hug for all of you. :)

I think the guy at the gas station may like your mother, as a person. I know she's a likeable person. The few times I spoke to her on the phone; I could tell that was she was very special. He may have gotten what I call "a burst". I get them when I'm around people I care for or love. My husband thinks it's adorable.
I'll just hug a friend when leaving a restaurant. With Lou, it can be anywhere. I'll get a burst lying on the sofa and just kiss one of my cats about 50 times, lol. They stay real still. I think they figure if they stay still, that it will end sooner, lol.
On a smaller scale, maybe that's what happened to the gas station guy. He does see her almost every day, and did ask her first. We don't know what's inside his head, so it's hard to determine his motives, if he has any. Did your mother get a negative or a positive vibe about it? That's important.

Hi Janice, Thanks for the hug. You always know how to put a smile on my face. :) I know what you mean, I'm a big time hugger myself. Sometimes I'll get the urge to hug my dog Paisley. Pretty much all the people in my life I hug. To this day I still hug my ex, and she'll kiss me. I'm sure you can tell just by how I act that I'm a very affectionate person. I think you're probably right though. The guy knows she's got Carl in her life already, so I doubt he has any motives. My mom actually appreciated his hug. It made her feel good about herself, and anytime she feels good about herself, I am happy. One time some guy whistled at her, and she had a smile on her face for the next hour. lol Here's a hug just for you Janice, from my mom and I!
Brad Russ 07-05-2011, 02:34 AM Forgot to say thank you to you Janice for the kind words you spoke about my mom. :) I will read what you said to her the next time I see her. My mom likes you too, and has always wondered about how you're doing with your pain. Since she's dealing with similar stuff, she can just relate to you.
