Jane's interest in Jethro gave the writers lots of opportunities for funny scenes. Jethro tended to be interested only in starlet/model types, and when he did "date" Jane, his primary attention was on food...!

I think it's worth noting that certainly by the time the final season rolls around, Jane has turned her attention elsewhere -- at that time she's very interested in Dick Bremerkamp / Robert Audubon Getty Crockett.

Jane and Jethro are together if you want them to be. That's what fanfiction is for. I generally tend to portray Jane as a lesbian in my fanfiction because that's how I want her to be. In my stories, she has a partner and a kid. But I love to read any romance fanfiction with my favorite character. I think Jane and Jethro being together would be cute.

The Jethro/Jane thing seemed to fade out in the first couple seasons.

I thought at the beginging Jethro DID show an interest is Jane.

But one one thing I thought of was, Wasn't Jethro supposed to be like a TEENAGER and Miss Jane probably in her 40s? Did anyone see that as creepy? If Mr. Drysdale had a crush on Elle Mae people would have called him a sick PERVERT. Don't you just love double standards.

He was really good looking and nice, but stupid as all get out. I don't see how Jane would have liked somebody that stupid.
