And I forgot to list Hawaii Five-O, since another channel has it in my area (so Me replaces it with an extra ep of Rawhide). And how could I not remember to add Cannon, a really good series...!

The nice thing about many of those shows is that they are on 5 or even 6 days a week and you can really sink your teeth in the run -- especially ones that have 2 eps shown back to back...!

Not cable gods. The digital broadcast gods. These are free over-the-air stations.

What channel is it on in Philly on cable? Are you even sure your local cable provider is carrying it? If not, you'll have to watch it with an antenna.

You're going to have to ask your cable company or MeTV itself. It is probably on the air on 59.3... cable is a different story. It could be a few weeks later like Antenna TV was for you.

Three's Company, All in the Family, Too Close for Comfort and Soap are better than anything on MeTV, I think. Good Times, Sanford & Son, Married with Children, and Maude are good, too.

It has nothing to do with whether it's on cable or not. I get Antenna TV on 252 which means I would get WFMZ on 271. I now have to question the credibility of the information that's on the blog because right now I'm not seeing what I'm supposed to see

But I read the blog and it clearly said that METV COMES TO PHILLY and that the start date is 7/4/11 on digital channel WFMZ which i have on now at 1am.

So before I trash the BLOG i'm going to wait and see what happens when I wake up tomorrow.

You still do NOT understand the difference between cable and digital stations. I said it is starting on July 4th on over-the-air 69.3. Cable is a different story. Did you forget again that Antenna TV started on your Comcast channel 252 A MONTH later when it started on WPHL 17.4??? Get a damn $10 antenna so you can watch this free station right now rather than waiting for your cable company to add it! I REPEAT MeTV is NOT a cable network, it is a free-over-the-air digital station. Cable is not required to be added in a line-up for this station. You will have to call your cable company or ask MeTV when it is coming to CABLE. Because the station is out on July 4 on broadcast. Not sure where you heard this channel 271 crap? I said 69.3. LEARN TO READ BETTER. Go back to Reading 101 and read this: http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/sitcomsonline/Bnuy/~3/tNHcEq93BPM/metv-comes-to-philly-cincinnati-friends.html

Is that clear enough for you??? There are already reports of people in Philly getting this station over-the-air.

It all started last night with Brian contacting me on facebook saying that metv is coming to philly and I asked how he found out and u said you which meant the blog. So I guess I got too hype and didn't notice it said 69.3 not the cable version. So that's why I re-read the blog because I didn't think it would have inaccurate information so I aplogize

But what does channel 271 have to do with this?? Is that where the main WFMZ channel is?? If so, it is not replacing the main WFMZ channel, they are adding MeTV to one of their sub-stations. It is not certain when MeTV will come on your cable line-up, if at all. Ask MeTV or Comcast if they will expand to cable, too.

antenna is for tv watchers without cable so the money will be a waste of time. I have no intentions of disconnecting cable so I can watch regular tv. So i will just do without the channel

You can have both antenna and cable. When you want to watch MeTV, turn the cable off and switch to the antenna mode. You don't disconnect anything. You just switch the mode from your remote. It's not that hard. I have both.

Isn't Allentown a good distance from Philly? It seems like there could be reception issues for WFMZ in the immediate Philadelphia area.

I'm jealous...Philadelphia has MeTV AND Antenna TV - I have neither, but am supposed to get MeTV soon. Probably won't ever get Antenna since they seem to be painfully slow at adding new affiliates....and seeing my local stations, I doubt they would ever add it anyway

We get Dobie Gillis on our METV. I DVR it every day. I found out about that show years ago when Nick At Nite used to show GOOD old shows (meaning really old shows, not the newer ones), and my husband had never heard of Dobie Gillis. Now I think he loves it because he's been watching it on our DVR! ME TV is an awesome station!

You might need an antenna to view 69.3. So Antenna TV 17.2 is coming in clear? You should have tried this when Antenna TV launched and you had to wait for it to be added to your cable line-up.

I didn't have a LCD TV back then I just bought it last week. And if I bought the antenna would it still involve me disconecting cable from the LCD TV and connecting an antenn and then disconnecting the antenna and reconnecting the cable wire when I want to watch Cable again?

Pavan
07-04-2011, 03:33 PM
No, it would be the same way how you just switched from cable to antenna. You just hook up the antenna and switch the mode to antenna when you want to watch via antenna. You don't even have to unplug the antenna if you want to go back to cable mode. That's why I'm saying it is worth having a $10 or so antenna. If you're cable ever goes out, you could still watch TV over-the-air. It's a good back-up.

I still don't follow you. Don't i have to UNHOOK the cable wire that is currently plugged into back of the LCD TV in order to hook up the antenna? And how would I be able to view cable if the antenna is still connected and the cable wire is disconnected??

You don't have to unhook the cable wire! You just plug the antenna in on the other port (where you would put the VCR one in). And that's it!

You're telling me your TV doesn't have an antenna "IN" port? You plug the antenna into that port. Here are the directions:

Make sure your TV is turned off. Connect the antenna's built-in coaxial cable into the antenna IN on your TV.
Then go into your TV's settings and have it scan for channels. And bang that's it. You should be able to get all the digital broadcast stations.

I recommend getting the TriQuest Antenna that is omnidirectional. Model #41702. It looks like a mini-laptop.

Well how much is that because I'm not paying a lot of money for no antenna. And again it's one port in back of the TV that says Cable/Antenna. That's it. I never known a TV to have more than one port in the back since I believe alive

The only other IN is for the AV jack plugs which are red white and yellow

So maybe your 60 inch TV has a separate port for cable and the Antenna

Hate to butt in, but maybe you can use a dual splitter to plug in to the back of your tv, then that will give you two ports, one for antenna and one for cable. They come with a switch that you can turn from regular tv to cable.they dont cost much.

I have a DVD Recorder/VCR combo that is connected to the cable box and LCD TV through A/V jacks not cable wires. The DVD recorder/VCR combo doesn't have ports in the back, only A/V connections.
