If you saw Mike's lips move muted-out, it appears that he simply said "Alice, it's 6:00 in the morning".
What I think is that for some reason, he re-recorded "Alice, it's 6:00 in the". They put it over the scene, and it looks like he took more time saying the words originally than he said them in the re-recording. This explains the space between hearing "the" and "morning".
