View Full Version : Tom Hanks: There will be a 'Toy Story 4'
Brian Damage 06-28-2011, 09:56 AM Did the new short before "Cars 2" whet your animation appetite for more "Toy Story"?
Well, you're in luck: Tom Hanks shares that the saga of cowboy Woody and Buzz Lightyear is not yet over and that "Toy Story 4" is in the works.
Yee-haw!
When BBC's Tim Muffet asked the actor whether or not we'll see another installment of the film, Hanks says, "I think there will be, yeah. Yeah, yeah, think they're working on it now. There you go."
We knew it couldn't be over just because Andy's neighbor got all the toys. This means a whole new adventure!
And a lot of money, too.
According to Box Office Mojo, "Toy Story 3" became the highest-grossing animated film of all time, beating a record previously held by "Shrek 2." The movie has also grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
Just goes to show that you can love toys at any age.

Marvo301 06-28-2011, 01:40 PM I thought Toy Story 3 wrapped up the story very nicely and made a great conclusion to this series of films. I don't think there is any purpose in making another Toy Story film. It's nothing but greed on behalf of producers who are hoping for a windfall of cash from another entry in the series.

I sorta agree, however, since Pixar is behind the project and if all the cast returns, I am sure they can put together a very good story. JMO

I admit that as of right now I've only seen the first one and I'm sure I'll love the other two but when movie franchises start making more than three it starts getting old after a while. I mean, look at Pirates of the Caribbean. Just because an original movie is successful doesn't mean that you have to run it into the ground by making multiple sequels!

I agree, but I also see Marv's and Andrea's points. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens!!!!
James28 04-11-2017, 08:35 AM I think it's ironic that there was a sketch on Robot Chicken titled "Toy Story 4" that aired a year after Toy Story 3 came out, and then a couple years later Disney/Pixar confirmed an actual Toy Story 4 film.

the same thing happened with the Rocky movies - after they announced the third one, MAD magazine did a parody story about "Rocky 50" where they resurrect Rocky Balboa's dead body and rebuild him with robot parts and he fights some bad guy or something, basically implying that the series would go on with an infinite number of sequels long after Stallone's death... as long as they keep making money it will never die
Svenfan1234 04-11-2017, 01:46 PM I am very excited for Toy Story 4 in 2019!
Torgo 04-11-2017, 02:19 PM I think it'd be more ironic if Disney/Pixar didn't make a sequel to one of their popular films. That being said, I love the Toy Story films.
Hawkee 04-12-2017, 01:56 AM I have been a fan of Toy Story since it came out in 1995 and I think from the time Toy Story debuted in theaters Disney and Pixar knew that they would have a hit on their hands and possibly an empire and they proved it with Toy Story 2 and little did they know based on Toy Story 2's success in theaters Disney and Pixar repeated the same success with Toy Story 3 and it proved that Disney had struck gold because as many fans of Pixar movies know this secret which is "If a movie is successful expect more great things from it" which was true for Toy Story because if you look at it Toy Story is still popular and has spawned TV movies and cartoon short films called Toy Story Toons that aired on Disney Channel and Toy Story toys are still being made because it is one of the first Disney/Pixar movies that made a huge and giant mark in the history of movies as the first computer animated film. Now I think with Toy Story 4 coming soon I think it will be a blockbuster film because it will open up a new chapter with some new characters being introduced as Toy Story 3 did with the character Bonnie and a new cast of characters will make the film a success. Now I wonder who will replace Don Rickles in Toy Story 4 because Don Rickles really gave laughs to the Toy Story series and he will be missed by Toy Story fans in Toy Story 4. But when Toy Story 4 makes it's debut in 2019 Disney and Pixar will work it's magic again

irehtman 04-12-2017, 08:35 AM It's about time Tim Allen should return to the movies, like Toy Story 4, to play the voice of Buzz Lightyear!
James28 04-28-2017, 12:36 AM How will the recent death of Don Rickles affect the development and production of Toy Story 4?
Don Rickles provided the voice of Mr. Potato Head in the Toy Story film series, and his representative confirmed that Mr. Rickles was unable to record any lines for the upcoming film. This means that either a replacement actor for Mr. Potato Head will have to be found, or Mr. Potato Head will be written out of the upcoming film's storyline. Which of these options would you prefer, SitcomsOnline members?
Svenfan1234 04-28-2017, 10:24 AM I think Mr. Potato Head will probably be written out somehow of the fourth movie. I also think that there will probably be yet another delay of Toy Story 4. Don Rickles WAS Mr. Potato Head. Can't replace him.
Torgo 04-28-2017, 10:34 AM I would hope they do some kind of tribute for Mr Potatohead/Rickles, not just write him out, but give him a nice send off.
JamesG 04-28-2017, 12:52 PM Svenfan1234 and teneter, I deleted those posts as they contained personal arguments not related to movie discussions.
Tenter, no rules were broken and please don't call out members like that. No further discussion on this topic.
