I've been hearing some bad news lately that Warner has already scrapped plans for all future releases of the show because Season 1 sold so poorly. This would be the ultimate injustice if true, considering how many f'ing years we waited to get this show on DVD in the first place. Has anyone else heard anything else about this? Think it's just internet rumor BS?

If it turns out to be true then I am not surprised in the least. I have a feeling that WB never wanted to release this show. They did not even try to make any decent advertisements for the release of FM. They released several others shows that were not as successful or as long-running as this one.

I hate to say it, but we will likely never see this show released on hard media again. I can definitely see it being available for digital download or instant streaming one day. The only trouble with that is A) many people like me are collectors who want to archive the show on hard media and B) the digital download/instant streaming stuff is still in its infancy. It has a long way to go before the dream of "every movie or tv show ever made" is at our fingertips.

Bottom line, television will never be the same. That is part of why I collect and archive classic programs. What else will I watch if I don't like the tv shows of tomorrow? What will I do if I don't want to watch everything on the Internet or via downloading or streaming? I am 24 years old and most would expect me to embrace all the new technology, but some people are just old fashioned, you know?

I was very disappointed when they released Season 1 alone, because Season 2 was my favorite and I knew if Season 1 didn't sell they may not continue with it. At least release Season 2 so I can watch my favorite season of Family Matters!

Warner is known for releasing 1 season of a popular series, then abandoning it. (Murphy Brown, Welcome Back, Kotter, Growing Pains) for example. Growing Pains season 2 was eventually released 3 years later, though, so I guess there's some hope.
