I saw a case of UM the other day...it involved a bank robber who dressed in Middle Eastern attire...a turban and long beard and had a bomb where he blackmailed a cab driver into robbing a bank? Anybody know the name of this case...any updates?

The robbery took place in Modesto, California. The cab driver was Harvey McCloud. I looked at the case info at unsolved.com/wanted.html. The case is titled "Human Time Bomb". There have been no updates on the case, and even though the statute of limitations has expired for the robbery, the kidnapping charges can still stand.

wow! thats scary...did he actually get away with robbing the bank? or was it just an attempted robbery that was botched?

From what I remember of the segment, he did get away with the robbery. I thought he told the cab driver to leave the briefcase containing the money in the cab, then to walk to a payphone and await a call at which point he would be given instructions to disarm the bomb. The call never came and the bomb squad responded. I would imagine this was all subterfuge so the robber could get back to the abandoned cab and retrieve the briefcase.

No update on the case but doing a search on the cab driver, Harvey McCloud, he apparently died in 2006.

I can't post a link (since I'm a new user) but you can do a Google search and one of the results is from Find a Grave.

Whenever I see this segment I think of the pizza bomber case (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Brian_Douglas_Wells)

I was pretty surprised watching this that it had no resolution. It seemed to have the hallmarks of a case where the clues (limited though they may be) would lead to a solution

Just saw this Harvey McCloud case. This criminal was a piece of garbage; he preyed on this elderly cab driver & made him think he had a live device strapped to him & used this to make the guy rob the bank for him. Glad this was an intentional dud & that everyone survived here.

Too bad this criminal hasn't been found; he deserves severe punishment for this crime.

Yes, this does remind me of the more well-known 2003 P.B. case from PA - that had a much darker outcome.

When the Pizza Bomber case happened, this was the FIRST thing I thought of. I always wondered if they had seen this segment.
