I think I read somewhere that he did, but he was so old and frail at the time that Gabe Kaplan (who idolized Groucho) refused to let the cameo air. In fact, Gabe destroyed all production photos with the late Groucho because he didn't want him to be remembered that way. I think Groucho died later that year. Is this correct?!?

Groucho was supposed to appear in the closing scene of the episode "Sadie Hawkins Day' which aired on November 18, 1976. In the scene Groucho was supposed to react to Gabe doing an impression of him. However when Groucho arrived on the set to shoot the scene he was to frail to perform so the idea was scrapped. Groucho did pose for publicity photos with the cast but due to Groucho's frail looking appearance the photos were never released.
