Yep, I saw it twice. Fabulous. And you've seen it, too, Allison... when was it? In November? But it closes on Sunday. If I lived in New York, or even anywhere near, I would have gone to see it again and again and again and again and again.... LOL! It's a good thing I decided not to transfer to NYU. That would make it waaaaay too easy! But there's always Twigs coming up, hopefully in less than a year! :)

I should try to see it again though...it's my favorite play of all time, and Rue is wonderful in it!

YUP I live in NYC, so I can see it whenever I have the time and money! lol

Gracie, you live in NY and only saw it ONCE? LOL! (Same thing with maude77.) If I lived within 2 hours of NY, I would've been to see it 10 times already, haha! Unfortunately, it closes on Sunday. I was thinking that it would get extended to Jan. 27th, which was the latest possible date it could run. I liked the play so much better the second time I saw it. The first time was in previews, and I was a bit disappointed after the show. Rue caught me off-guard and asked how I liked it... I'm never good caught in situations like that, but I said, "Oh, I just loved it!" and I told her I loved the curtain calls (which, that was sincere, LOL!). But when I saw it in December, it just seemed to be a much better performance overall. It just seemed tighter, it had a better flow to it, and the actresses seemed much more comfortable in their roles. Also, Rue's hideous beige, flesh-tone dress (the one she's always shown wearing in photos) was replaced by a gorgeous, *much* flashier, silver and black one.

In any event, I'm really looking forward to Rue's next B'way play, Twigs. I already told her that I'm going to come see it several times, LOL! --and my plan: spend one night, see an evening performance and then a matinee the next day... to cram as much in as possible. Ha!

Well yeah I only saw it once (I'm getting a ticket to see it this weekend :p so twice) because I have been busy with court dates and doctors and a REALLY PA-freakin-THETIC relationship with an immature, lousy little creep of a now EX boyfriend...so I haven't had time. Plus I had to spend a few hundred bucks on a couple friends coming out to see me in November, and was temporarily BROKE...New York can do that to a person too.

I REALLY want to meet Rue...I had my heart set on it when the show opened, but she went out the front door while I stood there on crutches at the stage door. :( Ah well, let's hope I catch her before the play ends. (I NEED to see it once more to see how it grew & developed over time.)

Have you already gotten your ticket to see it this weekend? I'm just curious as to how ticket sales have been this month. I know in November and December, they were booming and good seats (or seats at all!) were really difficult to come by. It didn't get extended another 2 weeks, like it could have (to the 27th), so I'm just wondering if tickets sales dropped or something. And living in NY, have you heard anything about the possibility of The Women (or any of the cast, etc.) being nominated for a Tony? (I don't keep up with that kind of stuff at all). Critics seemed to absolutely love or loathe it, so it will be interesting to see what pops up for best play revival... Anyway, that's great that you're going to see the play again. In the month and a half between the two performances I saw, the quality of the show improved immensely.

Nope, I haven't gotten my ticket yet, but I have a slight advantage being that I am disabled. And I can go to any performance from tonight til Sunday, so I'll see when I go to the box office tonight.

I know about the Tony's and I know that The Women (sadly) cannot win a Tony if it isn't running at a certain time. I think the cut date is in April or May. Of course the Tony's are in June...I've been lucky enough to be there the past 2 years, and I'm looking forward to #3.

Like I said, I'll see tonight whether I get to see it or not, but I'm pretty sure I will---just don't know when.

TOODLES!

Gracie, did you get to see The Women one final time last weekend?

A couple days ago, I heard that a few final performances of the play were taped and The Women will air on PBS on May 29th as part of the Stage on Screen series. It's hosted by Jason Alexander. I can't wait!! Obviously, it will be edited (the nude scene will definitely be cut), but I hope they don't chop it up too much!

I didn't even know that Rue McLanahan was in a broadway show! I want to go, but did someone say that it was closing on Sunday? Anyway, If I can't see Blanche I want to see Bea Arthur in Between Friends. I live in NY, and, if anyone is looking for a really good show to see, see Rent.

Yes, Rue played the Countess De Lage in The Women. Previews began on October 12. Opening night was November 8. It was a limited engagement from the Roundabout Theatre Company, and was supposed to end its run on December 23. It was really successful, though, and got extended a few times--and closed on Sunday (the 13th). But it's going to air on PBS on May 29th.

No. I didn't because yeah they were ALL sold out, and being on crutches I was not gonna stand in the cancellation line to TRY and get tickets. Plus I gave a GOOD talking to to a friend of mine who was supposed to still have a ticket or two for the show for me...and didn't.

I need to see that end version on PBS, I hope it does the show justice. (And yesh, they would have to crop the nude scene, but not cut it...it's one of the best scenes script wise-in fact it's a scene I did once as a monologue...not naked of course)

And as to what to see on Broadway, RENT is cool...AIDA is better (i'm seeing it tonight for the 5th time)...and well Into The Woods might be interesting when it opens...and Oklahoma...Phantom always has my vote...then there's The Full Monty...Beauty and the Beast...I won't go on lol!
