British writer Andrew Morton purports to know what the creators of the hit CBS sitcom have decided to do to explain why Charlie Harper will not be back in his Malibu beach house and why a new character played by Ashton Kutcher will appear in his place. Morton says Charlie will drive his Mercedes off a Malibu cliff and the house will be put up for sale. Kutcher's new character will come along to buy the house, letting Alan--Jon Cryer’s character--and his son continue to live there because of Alan's financial woes. If anyone who actually watches the show would've read this before me, they'd also know this is NOT how they are writing Charlie out. In the final episode produced of season 8, Charlie runs off with his former stalker, now girlfriend, Rose on a trip to Paris. According to multiple insiders and TMZ, they will simply write Charlie and the recurring role of Rose out of the show by saying they decided to continue traveling and/or to stay in Paris.

If that is true, it's incredibly lame.

Not only is it a vindictive and gloomy segue, it's completely ridiculous to think that someone would buy a house and let the former occuants live there.
Why sell the house in the first place?

A better idea is that Kelso accidently stumbled into a time machine and ended up in 2011. He gave Charlie the time machine in exchange for the house.

This way Kutcher won't actually have to strain himself and act. He can just play himself.

Sources connected with the show tell TMZ ... Chuck Lorre's plan is to make sure Charlie Sheen can NEVER come back on the show. Although the first show won't be filmed until August 5, producers have been kicking around scenarios, which include Charlie driving a car over a cliff.

Of course, it would be art imitating life, because two of Charlie Sheen's cars went down a cliff on Mulholland Drive.

As for how Ashton Kutcher enters the picture, there's been talk that he buys Charlie's house after Charlie kicks the bucket.

Sources tell us ... the first script still isn't locked and Lorre often makes changes until close to taping, but it's pretty clear -- Charlie Harper is pushin' up daisies.

Why would they make Charlie's exit so morbid? Wow, that's pretty sad. I've never heard of a sitcom literally 'killing' a character unless the actor/actress actually died. And even then it's usually done tastefully. I rarely if ever watch 2 1/2 Men, but couldn't they just have him leave town or something?

The Hogan Family did it when Valerie Harper left the show. She died in a car crash I believe. She was suing the producers of her show at the time as well. The lesson is that if you go after the producer, your character's dead. lol

M*A*S*H did it first, most likely, by killing off Henry Blake. I don't think that was ever done before then. Even when Bea Benederet died, her Petticoat Junction character, Kate Bradley, didn't die but just went away mysteriously for the rest of the series.

On Make Room for Daddy when Jean Hagen, who played Danny's wife, left the show in 1956, they killed off her character.

An example after M*A*S*H is also Good Times when John Amos was fired and they killed off James Evans.

I heard on the radio yesterday morning that he was going to be killed off and they wanted people to call in and state what other tv character was killed of and the show keep going on without missing a beat.
