First Trailer and Poster for Footloose

Because so much went left unsaid in the first movie, we now have our hands on the first trailer and poster for the upcoming Footloose remake that's currently set for an October 14, 2011 release date.

Directed by Craig Brewer of Black Snake Moan and Hustle & Flow fame and starring newcomer Kenny Wormald in the rebellious lead role that once made Kevin Bacon a star, it looks like Paramount is doing an interesting job of updating this thing for a new generation.

For those who haven't seen the original Footloose (in which case you haven't lived), the story revolves around a city boy named Ren MacCormack who moves into the upstanding, Midwest town of Bomont where loud music and dancing have been outlawed by a local Reverend in the wake of a car accident that took the lives of five teens just three years prior.

But since this MacCormack isn't exactly simpatico with figures of authority, he takes it upon himself to change the town's ways by rebelling through the power of loud and dance while falling for the Reverend's daughter in the process.

Glad to see the "angry solo dance in an empty warehouse" scene made the cut, but not too crazy about the sneaking suspicion that this looks a whole lot like Step Up 4 with a different name.

Co-starring Andie MacDowell, Julianne Hough, and Dennis Quaid as the buzzkill Reverend who lays down the ban on rocking and dancing, it's hard to imagine this crew, or any crew for that matter, living up to iconic status of the original cast.

All the same, we're intrigued.

Interesting and disturbing at the same time. Must be the music. Just goes to prove that 80's music was SO much better than today's music! I have to admit that I MAY watch this just out of curiosity. Article said it comes out in November, so I'm thinking it'll be available at Netflix by no later than January!

The trailer isn't very good... I bet the movie isn't either... I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the rap music part... The lead actor guy seems miscast...
