After launching two sports news shows this year, Comedy Central is not continuing with either. The cable network has decided not to go forward with a second season of Sports Show With Norm Macdonald, which ended its freshman season June 7, or Onion SportsDome, which wrapped its first season March 15. Onion SportsDome premiered with 1.5 million viewers, Sports Show With Norm Macdonald with 1 million, both airing behind Comedy Central's top-rated series Tosh.0. Jon Benjamin Has a Van, which succeeded them in the slot, opened with 1.16 million last Tuesday. For the Onion, this was one of two branded series that launched in the past few months. The other, Onion News Network on IFC, has been renewed for a second season.

Norm is so funny and truly talented; he needs the right vehicle to showcase him. This wasn't it.

i'm not even a very big sports fan, but I loved the show - it was definitely more about the comedy than the sports, but how would anyone know that without watching the show first?

...Comedy Central is unwilling to support certain series that just "don't have it" (either with viewers or ratings). Demetri Martin's show, "IMPORTANT THINGS WITH...", was recently axed for the same reason.
So Norm shouldn't feel so bad.

I guess I was in denial of the fate of SS when no mention was made if and when it was coming back after it was pulled and Jon Benjamin's show put in it's place. Needless to say I am very disappointed about the decision to axe it.
I thought SS was brilliant. Unfortunatly, Norm's style and sense of humor is very polorizing: people (like me) think he's hysterical while others (as evident in the comments section of many websites reporting on the cancellation of SS) hated him and everything about SS.
I don't think the show wasn't given enough time to find its footing either.
It's a shame all around.
