"Their Friday Night Schedule?"

8pm-Three Stooges
8:30pm-Three Stooges
9pm-Three Stooges
9:30pm-Three Stooges
10pm-Three Stooges
10:30pm-Three Stooges
11pm-Benny Hill
11:30pm-Benny Hill
12am-Benny Hill
1230am-Benny Hill
1am-Benny Hill

This schedule stinks, Three Stooges overload. Three Stooges is more of a Sunday Afternoon type of program. And Benny Hill is not even worth commenting on. Anyone Else Agree?

Anytime is a good time to watch 3 stooges.
I don't care much for Benny hill.

Block Programming SUCKS! Sounds like Antenna TV is doing the same thing all the Cable nets are doing. I'd rather have VARIETY. :angryfire

Like Regulus says--Block Programming Sucks. ME-TV just had hours of I Love Lucy programming  No more than 2 episodes of the same program please

To be honest, I dont mind block programming. It depends on the show. I think a bigger negative to Antenna TV is all the lame movies they show. I've never even heard of them and they from Mon.-Fri., they take up half or almost all of the day. I could be wrong on that, though.

That's the only negative in your view? Not that fact that every show is butchered beyond belief?

Well, some of the shows that I watch on Antenna TV, like Father Knows Best, Too Close for Comfort and Maude, I wouldnt know if they butcher the episodes because I havent seen the shows in such a long time. Do they butcher the shows, THAT bad??

Butchering beyond belief is a strong statement. It is way better editing that anything on cable. The editing is in the style of the '80s and '90s. And they don't edit anything themselves. They air what they are given. Some shows are unedited, like Here Come the Brides and Soap...

MeTV is the same type of editing. And they also have some shows that are unedited. Both of these digital stations don't edit anything out themselves.

Big wow, 2 shows out of how many? The commercial breaks aren't even in the right spots on the shows I've sampled. They just come right in the middle of scenes instead of at the natural breaks. Yes, to me that's butchering.

Butchered Beyond Belief Really?

Not even close to being butchered some channels edit close to 5 minutes off of half hour shows now thats butchered beyond belief. I am quite happy to have both METV and Antenna TV especially considering the alternatives and shows that dont have Complete DVD releases like Maude Hazel, Dennnis the Menace and many others that I would not be able to see otherwise.

The Fact that they have the Stooges/Hill Marathons on Friday and Saturday is a lil much for me.

I'm not crazy about their movies. I seldom watch them. I wish they aired all TV shows like Me-TV. Also, they seem to mostly show sitcoms. I would like like to get rid of the movies and the blocks and add more variety like dramas from the Sony library like Police Woman, Family, and Fantasy Island--especially since it seems they are unable to show some of their older comedies like The Farmer's Daughter because they are in poor shape.

I miss when TV networks, broadcast and cable alike, aired half hour sitcoms one episode at a time, which in turn added to the variety/number of shows they could air in one day. ME TV seems to do this for the most part, which is a much needed change. These days, networks have huge blocks of three or four programs that repeat throughout the day. That's just lazy programming. Hallmark Channel is one of the biggest culprits of this. Every show they have always is aired in huge blocks (even the hour-long dramas). They have other shows that they drop from their line-up because they claim they have to make room for other shows, but there is no reason they can't fit them in somewhere. I think the whole "back-to back" blocks of shows like sitcoms started when TVLAND started the "Twice As Nice" blocks back in the 90s where each show aired two episodes back-to-back (essentially 1 hour each per show). From there, other cable networks like TBS, etc started doing this and now even most local stations show their syndicated fare in hour blocks. But somewhere along the way, we got networks who have been doing the 3, 4 and 5 hour blocks of shows. Once again, I think Nick at Nite and TVLand started the trend (the best example would be when N@N did those summer block parties where they would have two shows air per night for a five hour period).

I guess I'm in the minority because I actually enjoy the movies shown here, especially rare ones you don't see often like the three Joan Crawford movies Harriet Craig, Queen Bee and Autumn Leaves. I do agree about the blocks and butchered shows but there was the "Black Jesus" episode of Good Times from Season One that featured a rare version of the closing theme with different vocal riff that is NOT on the DVD set.

What I DON'T like is the fact that they have to show KTLA News in place of shows.

I don't mind double episodes, myself. 2 in a row is enough, though, IMO.

I think they are overloading both Benny Hill and the Three Stooges but to be honest I am not a fan of either show. I generally don't like when stations air hours of the same show because to me it gets boring.

I will state though that show wise I've only watched three of them: the Monkees, the Partridge Family and Too Close For Comfort. I only watched Two Close for Comfort one time and will probably watch again if I catch it but will not be a must watch show (I watched it often during its broadcast run). Both the Monkees and the Partridge Family are must watch shows though I own both on DVD. I didn't pick up any editing from either show but have heard the Partridge Family is edited (not sure about the Monkees).

As for the movies I wish they had more variety but did get to watch two movies I had heard of but never saw before: Immediate Family and For Keeps. However, 2am is usually too late for me to watch more movies unless I see one listed I want to watch.

...that the "current" version of "THE MONKEES" appearing on Antenna TV are edited episodes, from different "sources" {Sony, and LBS [Lexington Broadcast Services] Communications "videoprints" (from a syndicated run in the '80s)}. "GIDGET" episodes, also edited, are from a mix of Sony [domestic and their International division] and Columbia/Tri-Star "videoprints" from the '80s.

Incidentally, 'zepurplerose', on YouTube, recently posted this comment about Antenna TV:

"I just recently by chance came across this station in my area... I feel like I hit the jackpot... finally good old show(s) to watch again.. ;)"

After I wrote that I remember that the Monkees prints are one of the syndicated ones and several of the songs are changed. Also, in the first season episode Too Many Girls (Davy and Fern)the bikini scene is different than other prints (some prints are closer up). This episode is also the only one to keep the original first season opening instead of the more common second season. I know there are several syndicated prints of the Monkees floating around but not sure how many.

I would at the very least cut back on the movies and show more sitcoms. Much of the movies that are shown are stupid anyway (Billy the Kid vs. Dracula). I don't mind that they show Soap in a four-episode block one weekly.

I totally agree about the stupid movies. I never watch them and I don't care a thing about them. That would help add more time to the schedule. It takes Three's Company and Too Close for Comfort too long to get through a cycle. If the movies went away, they would be able to be shown more, so that would make them go faster. I like the Partridge Family, but I am glad it is getting a break on weekdays because 14 episodes a week of a 4 season show with only 96 episodes is too much. It went through two and a half cycles on weekdays. Part of what slowed down Three's Company was having the Ropers air in one of its slots. Seriously, that is ridiculous to only show 4 episodes a week of an 8 season show. That's why it needs more times to air. Same for Too Close for Comfort. Other than that, the other shows are great and are shown at a reasonable pace.

Three's Company is only shown 8 times a week because they only have limited plays per episode. Believe me, they would air it much more if they had more plays. They are using it as much as they can by even airing a free encore.
