The companies that own the copyrights to the videos are to blame, not Youtube

It's the rule for all Youtube users, not just you. Getting mad at them doesn't
help things, the same thing with certain videos being removed. Just calm down.

I have been looking at youtube on the weekend for years with all my favorites in place-now all of a sudden- gone! Why should anyone need a Google account??? Okay, I signed up for google but my favorites are still gone. I am old and not too crazy about un-neccesary changes

Youtube's too restricted (and boring) for me now... I really miss the days when copyright infringement ran rampant there lol... I do find the odd interesting thing there still, but most of what I like/d to watch there is the stuff that tends to get removed swiftly now for copyright infringement...

That's because Google bought YouTube in 2006 and they decided to do this.

A question about youtube .
Why do people put stuff on there, and why is it so important
to have a lot of visitors/hits ?
Do they get paid for having something on youtube ?

No, YouTube launched in February 2005.

Google bought it in October 2006.

If one becomes a YouTube partner they do get paid for their YouTube videos.

No wonder there's so much feuding with a lot of the videos on there.
Money is at stake.

The thing with youtube is that even if videos that you like get deleted, usually somebody else always reposts what got deleted. I think they should leave well enough alone. Think about this:

If you want to watch a tv show that you like, sometimes those shows are not on tv. Even if they are on tv, they cut scenes out, they crunch the end credits, lots of commericals etc. So, you see if its on DVD. Lets say it is. The catch there is that maybe they dont release the whole series right away, they dub over music etc. Your only option would be youtube to see it uncut, with the orginial music. And then poof, youtube deletes it. That to me is unfair. We should be able to watch old tv shows, commericals etc.

Yet, of course, youtube is for kids who are not allowed to drive, trying to get there 15 mins. of fame by posting, God knows what, on youtube. There videos get viral and there famous. Thats just wonderful. Meanwhile, people cant find jobs are losing there homes and some kid or parent posts a video on youtube and they become millionaires. Thats fair, right?

Well, anyway, sometimes, judging from this board and some there posts, it seems like people would much rather watch old game shows, soap operas, westerns, sitcoms etc. then whats on today and those old shows and stuff would be on youtube. Youtube should just leave things alone.

I still believe in what I said above. We should be trying to preserve our history not try to tear it down. It also shows people that there was television out there after the year 2000.

One Word...

VIACOM!

If they didn't stick their ass in YouTube, we wouldn't have the copyright and 3rd party problem we have today...

IT'S THE V OF DOOM!!!

With that out...YouTube will be out like MySpace if it doesn't look out...then Hulu will take over.

i noticed that awhile back too. Kind of makes the music video thread i started a few years ago less important, although it is still good for current stuff. i went through it awhile back, and almost all videos from two years ago and beyond have been deleted.
