View Full Version : Mysterious Bag of Letters themaninblack 06-16-2011, 11:01 PM I do not recall ever seeing this segment. From what I understand there were a large number of letters from the WWII era involved. Could someone fill me in? DarkDante 06-16-2011, 11:47 PM It was aired during Special 6. The letters were V-Mail and they were found by an exterminator who was spraying for insects in an elderly woman's attic. The elderly woman claimed that the V-Mail was left in the possession of her nephew I believe who forgot about them and never got around to mailing them. The woman entrusted the letters to the exterminator provided that he never reveal where they came from. The exterminator then passed the letters onto the postal service who then had the unenviable task of trying to figure out where to send these letters onto all these years later. The did manage to track down most of the recipients and UM even interviewed a few of them. The thing is if you were watching the "Lifetime" syndication you would have assumed that there was no real mystery at all in this segment as they cut off a crucial tag to the segment seen in the original NBC broadcast where Stack appeals to the audience to help locate the recipients of the few letters that had yet to reach their destination. Stack mentions that due to post office regulations he cannot state who the recipients of the letters were but was able to provide viewers with information on who sent the letters and where the letters were headed to (cities, states etc.) There was never any update to my knowledge on this segment as to whether or not more letters reached their destinations. Orange_Sody_84 06-17-2011, 01:58 PM Stupid question... so was it the eledery woman's nephew behind the Vmail letters? and he just happened to forget to send them?? creepy case nonetheless. reminds me of the Zipgun Bomber kind of. According to UM, the nephew was a WW II serviceman and was charged with delivering this bag of V-Mail containing letters from a bunch of other servicemen upon his return to the United States and never got around to doing so.
