As a Vancouver Canuck fan I am very disappointed in how the Stanley Cup finals turned out. However I must admit the Bruins were the better team in the series and so I congratulate them on their championship.

Very disappointed in my so-called friends here who couldn't manage a simple congratulations to my home team. That was a hard fought win, after almost 40 years; including three seven game wins, in case anyone forget.

I was so happy and I guess I forgot since I do all my posting on Facebook-lol But I was roooting for the Bruins since they knocked out the Flyers. I saw on ESPN that Boston has the most championships since 2001....total of 7

I have to give you credit for saying that Boston is the better team in the series, even if Vancouver won, I would have still thought that Boston is still the better team due to dominating Vancouver in every category

I wouldn't take it personally. A couple of hockey threads that I posted on, after I posted nobody responded. I posted that although I wouldn't have minded seeing Vancouver win the cup, I didn't think they would after they barely got out of the first round. My posts seemed to kill the mood of the thread, and since then I don't post as much.

Also, here in Canada the riots are getting more airplay than the final. I am sure most that normally post here were quite upset with what happened after the game.

Anyway, congrates to your team. I didn't know you were a hockey fan, since this is the first time I have seen you post on a hockey related thread.

It's not a question of being a hockey fan. I think most people root for their home team, even if they don't follow the sport. The Boston Bruins had a great yesteryear, and just recently had a resurgence. That famous photo (below), to those in Massachusetts anyway, of Bobby Orr scoring the winning goal the last time Boston won in 1972, has been made into a statue in Boston. That team, with Derek Sanderson and the rest, were the hotties when I was a young teen. My sisters and I hung posters of them in our bedrooms. It's the sentimentality of it all.

As for taking it personally, it has nothing to do with you or most here; although I do appreciate your Congrats. It's my friends that I'm referring to, who post here. Some that I've been very kind to, behind the scenes. They know who they are. I'm aware that many hate Boston teams, mostly out of jealousy. Still, I've congratulated many Yankee and Giant fans when they've won, and it's harder to find a bigger rivalry than New York and Boston. To not do so is petty. What's done is done.

Congratulations to the Bruins and the city of Boston! They were truly deserving to win the Stanley Cup this season. They totally outplayed them most of the series. The 3 games in Boston were a massacre. Vancouver was fortunate they didn't lose the series in 4-5 games. Tim Thomas stole the show and they played with a lot of grit, skill and determination. It has taken some days for me to get over the loss.

As a lifelong Vancouver fan since I was 7-8 years old in 1981, it was very disappointing to see them lose once again in the finals. This was their third time making the finals and losing. Plus, add to the fact that my local Atlanta Thrashers team is being stolen and moved to Winnipeg and it has been well... the most terrible month I could have as a great hockey fan. I didn't see any condolences except from Marvo for me in the Atlanta Thrashers moving to Winnipeg thread for me. It's like getting your heart ripped out to have your team taken from you. Then your favorite team loses a hard fought series. You probably wouldn't be in such a congratulatory mood right away either.

Boston has truly been blessed with the sports championships in recent years.
They are truly the city of champions. It would be nice to see Atlanta win one championship. Vancouver wil be back. This will be a learning experience. :)

I may have chosen the wrong set of words as not to take it personally. I get what you are saying. It actually could be me that takes things personally, since a couple of times nobody responded to me.

On the hockey side, I don't remember the early 70's, however Bobby Orr was always a household name from as long as I can remember.

If it were any other team, I would have been rooting for Boston. It's been 40+ years for Vancouver also, so one team was going to go home disappointed. I thought it would be a tough 7 game series and that's what exactly happened. I just wasn't expecting that kind of game 7. That's what Vancouver played the whole season for the home ice advantage. The odds in a game 7 heavily favor the home team.

Vancouver had an excellent season and should be congratulated as well. They were the best team all year. This was supposed to be their season to take it all. I think they were considered heavy favorites heading into the finals. I knew it would come down to goaltending. Thomas was simply much better than Luongo, especially in the games in Boston. I think most Vancouver fans would have liked to see them in the finals with a full healthy squad, but Boston also had to play with some injuries. Vancouver's defense was very depleted and that plus the goaltending was the difference. For Boston to win 3 7 game series and the finals on the road was incredible. It would be great to see both of these teams back in the finals next season for a rematch.

The reason that the Atlanta team moved is because of not enough fan support, that happened twice, a NHL team in Atlanta just did not work

I don't follow hockey that much but I thought Boston had won the Stanley Cup more than once during the last 40 years but they hadn't done so since the 71-72 season. Anyways, congratulatons to Boston and all their fans for a hard-fought victory.
