View Full Version : Sunday Jan 6th is last of DS for now on N@N
Pavan 01-06-2002, 04:11 PM Starting Monday January 7th, 9 and 9:30pm e/p will be "Kids Say the Darndest Things." It will air Sun-Thurs 9-10pm e/p.
It is probably airing for either 2 reasons: Either it got great ratings for the 2 days it aired in December or it is a filler (holding) The Cosby Show slot until March. And yes it will still air on TNN Weekdays at 10-11am e/p.
So Diff'rent Strokes will probably return in March or so, hopefully.
I'll try to contact Nick at Nite to see the status on this change.
Pavan 01-06-2002, 04:39 PM Hopefully this hasn't changed either:
Sunday, February 17th Nick at Nite's Winter Break
9:00PM "Diff'rent Strokes" Episode #140 Hooray for Hollywood (Part 1)
9:30PM "Diff'rent Strokes" Episode #141 Hooray for Hollywood (Part 2)
10:00PM "Brady Bunch" Episode #74
10:30PM "Brady Bunch" Episode #75
11:00PM "Brady Bunch" Episode #76
11:30PM "I Love Lucy" Episode #143 "The Fox Hunt"
12:00AM "I Love Lucy" Episode #144 "Lucy Goes to Scotland"*
12:30AM "I Love Lucy" Episode #145 "Paris at Last"
DarleneIllyria 01-06-2002, 05:28 PM Well, N @ N pulls the screws away from us again. Bon Voyage Mr. Drummond, Arnold, Kimberly, and Willis. I doubt you'll be back in March, but atleast I've got my marathon courtesy of tvland. N @ N officially sucks again.
JethroSimpson 01-06-2002, 05:31 PM That is really bad news for all you Americans, Nick@Nite sound like such idiots, fancy taking a show off the air after one week just to show Bill Cosby.
For anyone in the UK though good news, starting tommorow DS is on 3 times a day! 1115 am, 2pm and 930pm.
Notorious 01-06-2002, 05:33 PM and Bill Cosby is RACIST!

Notorious 01-06-2002, 05:38 PM he is! he doesn't like me or any other white person! just watch on 'kids say the darndest things' and see how he treats white kids! (oh! i heard it off the news or something_
Beruche 01-06-2002, 05:56 PM I new something like this would happen. N@N brings back a show for one week and then it leaves again and for some reason I don't think it will be back in March. I just hope N@N doesn't become the "Cheers and Cosby" network.

AMEN! I've heard that Bill Cosby hates "Diff'rent Strokes"....don't remember where. And for the life of me, I can not stand "The Cosby Show"...and KSTDT isn't a sitcom! I thought their motto was "All Sitcoms, All Nite Long" or something! May Nick go to...that place.
Pavan 01-06-2002, 07:17 PM Bill Cosby a racist? That is the craziest thing I've heard. He is one of the nicest guys around.
Though Kids Say doesn't belong on Nick at Nite, I'm sure this is just for a short period of time. I'm looking forward to The Cosby Show, how could someone not like that show?
DanaForever 01-06-2002, 07:35 PM he is! he doesn't like me or any other white person! just watch on 'kids say the darndest things' and see how he treats white kids! (oh! i heard it off the news or something_
I don't really think this is the appropriate forum to be discussing whether or not Bill Cosby is a racist. You say he doesn't like you -- do you know him?
Pavandabal -- Thanks for keeping us updated. Do you know what will become of Cheers and Family Ties? I'm so sad they're taking off Strokes!

The rest of the schedule is the same but 9-10 pm is "Kids Say...," so FT is on 1-2am and Cheers 10-11 and 12-1 e/p.
I am hoping DS will return in March, I'll get more info on that soon. DS Hollywood episode is scheduled for Feb 17th, hopefully that didn't change either.
Kristina 01-06-2002, 08:17 PM WHAT THE H--L? They've only aired three episodes today it will be five. Oh ****ing well at least I have five episodes on tape. I cannot believe this ****!
angel676 01-06-2002, 08:50 PM What the h--l is N@N problem? First they
ditch FOL and DS, then they bring DS back
and now they are ditching it again? What
is going on with them? I'm done with N@N.
When I heard Diff'rent Strokes would be back four of five nights a week I felt as if an old friend had moved back into town and I could go visit just about any time I wanted to. Now suddenly I feel as though my friend moved away in the middle of the night and left no forwarding address. And just as I wouldn't know why the friend went away, I don't know why Nick keeps pulling out again and again...Ouch!!
Brian 01-06-2002, 09:13 PM I knew it. Nick at Nite strikes again. They just keep getting worse and worse.
angel676 01-06-2002, 09:28 PM I got a question, what was the point in
bringing DS back if they were planning
on taking it off again?
This question goes to pavanbadal: I'm
not asking for your sources, but where
do "you" keep getting this info from?
I mean, is this info at a site or something?

DS was scheduled for all of Jan and Feb, this was another last min change.
The source is directly from Nick at Nite, that is all I'm allowed to say.

Ya know this is just like what Scifi did with that Eric Close show. I can't remember the name of it, but I swear they aired it for 2 freakin weeks and took it off the air. Whoa N @ N, hope you didn't spend 75 million on DS to just air it for a week. I'm done with N @ N too. If I want to watch All in the Family I'll bring out my marathon tapes.
Paula 01-06-2002, 10:10 PM I only have 4 words to say:
I AM NOT SURPRISED!

I was asking myself the same thing. I just don't understand what N@N is thinking.

I'll tell you what N@N is thinking, they
are thinking $$$$$ signs. They want to air what "they" want to air. It seems as
though N@N doesn't care about the fans
anymore. I mean think about this, N@N is
suppose to be a kids station, what very
young kids want to watch Cheers? That
show is was intentionally made for adults.

N@N is not a kids network, Nickelodeon is. I'm sure kids like some of the shows but Three's Company, All In The Family, Cheers, and The Jeffersons are all adult shows.

They may be adult shows but I like most of those shows except for one (Cheers). So I think Nickelodeon is worse than N@N because I don't like any of those shows.
SitcomChick 01-07-2002, 09:04 AM I feel really sorry for all you guys in the US. In the UK, we are very lucky and are getting 'new' episodes of DS shown every day. I think we will be coming upto season four (or is it season five? Jethro do you know?) now. Well, whatever, they aired 'Crime Story' last night so...
Nick@Nite sounds like a such a trasy network. The fact that it has so few shows and they seem to show nothing but Cheers is bad enough but when they put on a programme only to take it off a couple of days later...that just sucks.

It's just coming up to season 5 Sitcomgirl. When Trouble only showed seasons 1 & 2 I asked them to show more and they did so when they have finished showing season 5 I'm going to ask them to buy the remaining 3 seasons and see what happens.

I really, really, really hope that Trouble air the remaining seasons once they're done airing season 5. When the showed nothing but seasons 1&2 it was very frustrating. I think it would be fantastic if they air the whole series. And a good thing is, that they don't seem to be refusing to show any episodes and going crazy with censorship like Nick@Nite apparently does. (apart from a couple from the first two seasons, that is.)
JethroSimpson 01-07-2002, 12:25 PM There's been a few episodes Trouble haven't shown from seasons 3 and 4, I don't know if it's because of content-
Growing Up
The Athlete
Hello Daddy
The Ancestors
I'm just really hoping they don't refuse to show The Bicycle Man, I think that should be shown in about 2 or 3 weeks time.
Curtis3331 01-07-2002, 12:36 PM I knew it was too good to be true.
Paula 01-08-2002, 12:08 AM Yea, and the worst part of it is that they led us on by giving us a taste of it for a week. That's almost worse than not bringing back at all in the first place.
I'm sorry for getting on you again Kristina but I think kids can watch Three's Company if they want to.It is funny and probably only 25% of it is adult-like.The other 75% is just funny slapstick.
That's why I watch!
I also think N@N is getting very worse worser than worse.Below C(heers or osby) Level!!!!!!!!!!!
I only watch on Friday and Saturday nights to watch Three's Company and Family Ties.
Family Ties is a pretty good show. It's probably on my top 20 list now.Alex P. Keaton is hilarious!
FOL85NatandMrsGRock 01-08-2002, 06:22 PM well Nick at Nite AND Nickelodian are going down teh tubes!! I cannot believe they spent SOOO much money for ONE more station on TV and all they do is play the SAME shows like 2 or 3 hours later!! why not put taht other tv station to good use for a SECOND nickelodian and Nick at Nite.. becuase for the longest time Nick at Nite kept saying that they can only keep a certain amount of shows because they only have so many hours in the night.. plus Nick keeps cracking off more hours for themselves to air Stupid CARTOON's.. why don't they just call it the fricken cartoon network Nick Style!?!? ARGH!!! I remember when NaN started at 8/7 central and ended at 7/6 central! I remember watching the lst few shows that woudl air on NaN in the morning when i would get ready for school!! They are just a bunch of BS if you ask me!! i mean.. for all we know they coudl be airing those GREAT Nick shows that used to be on taht EVERYONe wants back... Salute your Shorts, Hey Dude, Wild and Crazy Kids, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Double Dare, What would you Do?, Alex Mack, Clarissa Explains it All, Are you Afraid of the Dark?, Round House, Classic All That (when it was ACTUALLY funny), (and for cartoons) Ren and Stimpy, Raco's Modern Life, Ahhh... Real Monsters, Doug, and SOOO many more!! Nick actually did good before they started airing.. Rugrats 24/7, Rocket Power, Hey Arnold (which is okay sometimes), and whatever the h--- they play!! and then for Nick at Nite they could have on... Facts of Life, Diff'rent Strokes, Three's Company (AT A DECENT HOUR!!), Family Ties (AT A DECENT HOUR!), I Dream of Jeannie, Welcome Back Mr. Kotter, Brady Bunch, Bewitched, and SOOO many more!! they could even pick up shows like Growing Pains, Wonder Years (althougth that's on the other gayest network, besides NaN/Nickelodian, ABC Family) Gimme a Break, Good Times, and other's that are out there! Will the network EVER see how STUPID they are!! If i see ONE more episode of cheers i SWEAR TO GOD i will throw my TV out the window and say HELLO TVLAND!! at least the people at TVLand aren't as stupid as NaN.. althought i KNOW they are the same network basically... TVLand is SOOO much more loving to their viewers!!! Ok.. i think i need to stop b------g or steam will roll out my eyes, my eyes will pop out of my sockets, and my head will spin aroudn 10 times fast!!
Have a good one...
althought I won't be able to!
DarleneIllyria 01-08-2002, 07:23 PM Oh my God guys, I just was picturing something. Imagine if N @ N was on all day long and kept showing the basic stuff. Picture it-
6:00 a.m- Cheers
6:30 a.m-Cheers
7:00 a.m-All in the Family
7:30 a.m-All in the Family
8:00 a.m-Family Ties
8:30 a.m-Family Ties
9:00 a.m-3's Company
9:30 a.m-3's Company
10:00a.m-Brady Bunch
10:30 a.m- The Jeffersons
11:00 a.m-Cheers (different episode
11:30 a.m- Cheers (different episode
noon- let's do it all over again with the same episodes- Hey why don't we just play them all over again til 6 a.m.???!!!
We should thank our lucky stars that N @ N isn't a 24 hour station or it would suck so bad!
Beruche 01-08-2002, 08:12 PM If N@N was on all day then it would really be "The Cheers Network" ! They would show Cheers so much even people who like the show would get sick of it.
StaceyDJ 01-09-2002, 02:44 AM Okay I have a few things to say. First off, I like this discussion board. I've been reading posts on it for a while but this is the first time I have ever posted. I hate what N@N has done. I absolutely loved DS as a kid (and still do). I'm not really into the sitcoms of today, and N@N used to be all I watched. Now I think they have really messed that network up. I mean what is the point in two hours of Cheers when they could use that second hour to bring back DS and FOL?
When I was in elementary and middle school, my after school schedule was the same every day. I would get home by 3:00, get something to eat, and sit in front of the TV. I remember DS would come on at 4:00, Three's Company at 4:30, and Family Ties at 5. When our local channel took DS off the air then, I was upset. I still have many episodes recorded from that time, as well as the TV Land marathon in October. I now feel like I did back then. I'm still like a little kid when it it comes to DS. I love the show and I don't think it is right for N@N to take it off, bring it back for a week and get everyone all excited, then take it off again. I would like to e-mail them but I don't have an address. Does N@N have some way you can contact them to post your comments? I had also thought about writing TNN to see if they would start carrying DS. Maybe that would be an idea.

I do agree, alot of it is just funny slapstick comedy, but every episode has some kind of "SEX" quote. Probably a good age to start watching it would be 10 or 11, because under the age of 9 is just wrong lol... Besides I think kids younger than 9 would rather watch cartoons.

But that's not the Worst Network.
The previously mentioned TNN has a "Black Bar" that covers up the bottom of the picture & serves absolutely NO Purpose Whatsoever.
Amen.
A Usenet search of "TNN Black Bar" reveals Lots Of Groaning from the Masses. Oh how I love the Usenet. For it is for All Nations, Tongues, and Kindreds; yea even Laos & Dijbouti can benefit.
The typical Black bar covers up the bottom of the screen as mentioned w/an Ugly Looking Bug in the corner & the Name of the Show Plastered on the Tele 24/7. Makes you want to go to cinema that.
Amen.
But Nick is catching up and I daresay they make it hard to do Spectrum Analysis. I'll now lower their grade to a D- because of the "Kids".
Sounds like Cosby's getting a right proper push for the real thing. The $. The Bread. An odd decision is giving "KSTDT" 1 hour & Brady Grid the Graveyard 30 Minute Phase Out. But alas Brady Bunch is like Candy. Its real sweet & good for the kiddies so it'll pop up again I do declare.
Nevertheless I will now do the right thing & complete the litany of:
What the H--s going
What the H was N@N thinking
etc.
And give some more names for that accursed thing known as N@N.
Hades. Gehenna. Sheole. Beelezebub's (or Lucifer's) House.
Amen.
Now to answer more questions from earlier in the threadology:
Is Cosby "racist"?
No blacks can't be racist. Amen.
Where does Pavanbadal's data come from?
As he said it comes from a source at N@N. Why the secrecy? Probably because the source must be protected from getting fired. Because its a copyright issue. Or maybe its a matter of principle. No not the sexy Victoria Principal, but its a matter of integrity or sportsmanship.
Amen.
this concludes mini analysis spectrum.
Robert Tilton 01-12-2002, 10:50 AM The subject says it all.
Here I thought Nick at Nite was getting decent but alas... it must be said:
They pulled a Dewey Dupree instead.
Dewey Dupree was an eccentric guy near my town that owned a video store. Tapes, etc could be rented & returned. I say though this latest shenanigan of Slick Nick will earn a right proper dressing down.
The Cheers factor, giving Brady Grid a Graveyard Shift 5:15 AM (moving to another network I daresay?), among other niggles is one thing. But giving KSTDT an Hour? I do declare! I've watched it and I say its not all that.
Amen.
Shows of this type mirror the "Saget" show America's Funniest Videos in the amount of CheeseWiz produced. For the smart AFHV viewer could note that the "best" videos didn't win the prize. Nay but yea the "cutest" or "stupidest" did.
A baby burping out "God Bless America" or a guy making noises w/his armpits as he sings "O Promise Me"? Give him the Money!
But a work of art on America's Home Videos? Nothing.
KSTDT is on this category for the Man of Barnes. And giving it an hour?
Well well.
But this too shall pass for Pavanbadal data is excellent.
My confession for the day:
Brady Grid is Righteous
And Nick at Nite is RIOTOUS.
Amen.
On the QT I must inform the Audience:
Pop UP Brady's a coming Soon & Very Soon.
Right 4:00 on the dubdown.
BebeLilithFan154 01-12-2002, 10:53 AM hey eveyone...i dont want to get your hopes up but the tv listings book i got in my newspaper has DS scheduled for sunday 9-10 and during the week at 9...now this could be a misprint because they still said it was te brady bunch the week DS originally came back....but i hope its not a misprint!!
