View Full Version : Good News For Ozzie and Harriet Fans!
jesmelric 06-14-2011, 10:26 AM I joined Facebook just to be a part of the Ozzie and Harriet page. When my friend request was accepted I commented on how much I enjoy the episodes of Ozzie and Harriet I have, and was told, "We'll have fresh new material soon". I don't know any details, but I think that is super exciting :)
Janine the Dream 06-14-2011, 03:44 PM That is great news, I will be watching for it.
Goldilocks 06-18-2011, 01:29 PM Yeah, Sam's video messages have been teasing everyone with big news! There are over 500 "fans" now, and there's supposed to be some big announcement.
ILUVO&H 06-22-2011, 11:01 PM I hope some more episodes come out, and ones I don't have!
I didn't know there was an ozzie and harriet fan page on fb. I will have to friend it.
I recorded Here Come the Nelson's Sunday morning and watched a bit. I didn't have time to watch the whole movie. And seeing Dave and Ricky so little.. and thinking that they are both gone now was so sad.
Harriet and Ozzie just looked so young, and Harriet's voice was so high and sweet. Not as gravely as it became towards the end of the series run when you can hear what years of smoking had done.
If something does come out, I hope the Nelsons have the uncut episodes. No more of these edited down syndication versions.
jesmelric 06-26-2011, 05:51 PM Yes, I'm hoping to get more episodes, as well. I noticed today they have a recent post:
"we will soon have family branded full featured versions for you to enjoy. Check back soon!!!"
I'm hoping full featured means they might be uncut?
I heard that they will make an announcement when they get to 1,000 friends, they are close to 550 now.

Now it's 1000 friends/fans? Darn!! :explode:
ILUVO&H 06-28-2011, 11:09 PM What's the link to that page? I can't seem to find the one you are all talking about when I search facebook.
jesmelric 06-29-2011, 04:54 PM http://www.facebook.com/#!/ozzie.harriet
You should join, I see they are now up to 559!
ILUVO&H 06-30-2011, 01:27 AM thanks for the link. .. I friended the page tonight. :)
jesmelric 06-30-2011, 09:54 AM That's great, I'm excited to see what they announce when they reach 1,000. I hope it happens quick :)
Btw, am I the only one that is driven crazy by the Publisher's Clearing House things? I would peruse this board more, but they make me insane!
ILUVO&H 07-06-2011, 10:44 AM So I commented on the O&H fb page that I'd like to see Rick Nelson: A Brother Remembers as an extra on an O&H dvd... Well, the page responded back... with a "We plan to do better than that." :) It would be great to see that out on dvd!

I saw that!! Yipee!!
jesmelric 07-06-2011, 02:38 PM This is very exciting, I hope they announce something soon. I'm on pins and needles :)
jesmelric 07-10-2011, 08:41 PM It gets even more exciting! To the question:
Will there ever be the entire series in 1 complete set? That would be perfect!!!
Ozzie Harriet Replies: YES!
How great is that?! I can't wait for more details!
ILUVO&H 07-10-2011, 11:25 PM wow all 435 in a box set would be awesome ! Hopefully uncut !! because the sets the family put out before were edited versions. I wonder if they are restoring the episdoes too cleaning them up a bit. that would be a long process and take a lot of money. I wonder who they are working with for this project. Come on less than 500 more 'friends' and we can get some news, but I love how if someone asks a question or mention something they give a little info.
I totally randomly thought of asking about RN a brother remembers as I was typing a first message to the page and can't imagine I hit a bullseye for getting info. Or that it's actually going to come out on dvd. :)
jesmelric 07-11-2011, 02:42 PM Yes, I was wondering the same thing, as both Shout sets have cut episodes. I do have a large number of episodes, and probably at least half are uncut, so if they do issue cut episodes, I'll just supplement the complete ones I do have.
Whatever it is, I'm anxious to find out, and I will be buying it :)
Guess we'll just have to hang in there!

Yes, that is a very nice gentleman I've done some trading with. I believe he will be posting some more soon. He's done a great job, he transfers them from 16mm film.
matt77b 07-20-2011, 08:29 PM Veterans of this board might remember a posting around two years ago in which someone relayed a discussion with one of Rick's twin sons in which he (either Matthew or Gunnar, I can't remember which one) said that the family still has film of all 435 episodes uncut. And then when David died, Matthew gave an interview in which he mentioned that Sam had been working with Dave (before his illness) to get all the episodes released. So between that and the news on the facebook page, I think there's good reason to believe that finally, after all these years, all 435 episodes may become available to us O&H fans!

I'm downloading this one. I'm 99% certain it's one I don't have because looking at the thumbnails the episode has Thorny and Joe both in the show and I know I don't have any episodes with both of them together.

Yes I certainly hope so, but as one of the veterans I have always questioned if all 435 episodes were available, then why were the Shout releases all butchered versions from the basically The Disney & 80's syndication package (TBS Airings)...yes...remember weekdays at 4:35PM eastern for those who had Superstation WTBS in 1980!
I believe I answered my own question, I had brief discussions with the family lawyer/representative a few years back......
I was seriously interested in licensing "Ozzie's Girls" for a limited edition DVD release. For those other veterans I was also chasing the rare ABC 1965 "Tammy" series. Well that one we got released in Germany! Yes seems they are big fans of Debbie Watson (Tammy) and first got Universal airings in 1968.... i digress, but the entire "Tammy" series is now available with a English option soundtrack in Germany in a beautiful deluxe 5 DVD set unedited.
The Shout versions were a quick buck licensing deal, since all the episodes are in the public domain, it was much cheaper to release the already remastered edited versions than go back and spend big bucks remastering unedited versions.
Believe it or not, the big problem with the series is no one is willing to foot the bill for the remastering. Either the Nelsons are preparing something themselves or have finally partnered up with a company with some willing investment money.

Well I didn't have this episode. It was a new one for me. YES! Loving finding those rare ones I don't have.
And Lyle wasn't Joe Randolph, he was another characters but guess who played his wife..Mary Jane Croft and she didn't have her as OH Nuts says, Ol' Screechy voice. She was using her normal voice and wasn't ditzy.
There was one scene I had seen before, either Ozzie used the same footage in a different episode or did the same movie theatre gag in two episodes.

I remember that. It will be interesting to hear what they do have planned and what exactly they plan on releasing.

jesmelric 08-02-2011, 09:07 PM It looks they will be making an announcement in Mid-August. Just a couple of weeks to go! :)

I saw that. I wanted to write back.. come on spill already I want to know !!
Sounds like they have a few different things being planned so we'll see what they reveal first.
Glad they aren't waiting for that magic 1000 it's been sort of slow go with new 'friends' only at about 640 now.

Yes, that's exactly how I feel! When my youngest daughter was little, and she was impatient, she used to say: " What's takin'?" That's what I feel like posting..."What's takin'?" Lol.
I was worried, too that it would take forever to get to 1,000 and we'd never hear anything!
It does sound like they have several things planned. I'm just really hoping that some day (and soon) we will be able to get all the episodes!
OH Nuts! 08-05-2011, 02:40 PM I hope so :) Whatever they release, I will be purchasing it!
Me too! (Unless I have all of what's in the release already) But if there's one ep I don't have already....

I will probably buy it either way, there may be extras or something like that. I already have 380 episodes, but would love to get at least ONE I don't already have!
BTW I think Ken has posted more episodes to the Internet Archive. His are the best and most complete ones :)

380! Wow, think it's amazing you have so many. Physically I probably have a little over 200 -- 210 or 220 something like that. And of course, the extras you can get thru streaming. (It was also great being able to convert the 12 eps I had on VHS to DVD.)
jesmelric 08-08-2011, 09:01 PM Yes, I've been hunting high and low for them :) I believe Ken has been posting more to the internet archive, there should be more you can get there. You can download them to burn to disc, that is how I got several of mine.
I'm just hoping they will release the entire series, so ALL of us fans can have ALL of the episodes, wouldn't that be great?
stevea 08-09-2011, 09:15 AM ...I was seriously interested in licensing "Ozzie's Girls" for a limited edition DVD release.... .
"Ozzie's Girls" was bootlegged by somebody but they had really lousy sources. I think some were B/W kinescopes, as I recall...at least, they looked bad enough to be.

Five episodes are in the collector's circuit, yes some are in rough shape and in black and white, while two of them are in very nice color and are in very enjoyable quality. But I was seriously interested in getting out a legimate release and was willing to license the series from the Nelson estate including lawyers and all!
As I mentioned at least the limited 1965 "Tammy" series was given a deluxe remastering and released in Germany (Region 2) with a option for the original English soundtrack. Just the last episode appears in black & white as no good color print could be found. Universal holds the rights to the series.
stevea 08-09-2011, 03:09 PM I've seen several of the final season O&H episodes in B/W...evidently there are some of those prints in circulation, as well. I really enjoy the 'early' color, as the actresses seemed to all wear vivid colors, and the sets had vivid colors, as well...that ll just seem to 'pop'. Kind of akin to hi-fi: when stereo first came in, they mixed it real wide to show it off.
I'd really like to see all those in color...from what I'm seeing in this thread, maybe we will!
Dan Tullis 08-12-2011, 04:13 PM I have tapes of the 1965-66 eps both in color and b&w. Don't know why the difference, but I like seeing them in color. A show like Batman was perfect for color tv, with its comic book colors. Some shows, like the Fugitive, were better in b&w - color made it look almost pretty. Ozzie and Harriet worked either way.
ILUVO&H 08-14-2011, 01:41 AM I've taped the 65-66 season color episodes from the reruns on Disney in the 80's and have since seen public domain prints of those episodes show up on tv and in cheap dvds. The thing I can't stand about those color episodes airing in b/w is that for one I know they are suppose to be in color..lol but aside from that..they just look wrong. Like if you look at Harriet and Claras lips.. there's no color showing on them, it looks like they have beige lip stick on. It just looks so wrong I can't watch them.
jesmelric 09-09-2011, 10:13 PM Sept. 14th is the Big Day! Everyone keep an eye on the Offical Ozzie and Harriet Facebook page!

I saw that. Can't wait for Wednesday to find out what is really going on.
Also was interesting, that on the page, someone had asked who runs it, Ricks kids or Dave's and the answer was both. All of them are there from time to time some more than others.
I was glad to hear Dave's kids are actively involved as well with the facebook page.
jesmelric 09-12-2011, 10:35 PM Well, it looks like there will be a week delay. A little disappointing, but I think anything O&H is worth waiting for :)
OH Nuts! 09-16-2011, 02:29 PM Well, it looks like there will be a week delay. A little disappointing, but I think anything O&H is worth waiting for :)
Absolutely!!!
ILUVO&H 09-18-2011, 10:45 PM They commented today that there should be some more news out early tomorrow morning.
They also made a comment on someones post about releasing Nelson home movies, saying they to stay tuned... they were getting warmer.
I'd be nice if they were to something sort of similar to what Lucie Arnaz did with Desi and Lucy's home movies.
