The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev has announced her love of Twilight — and says that without those movies, her show may not even exist!

Nina, 22, tells MTV News she’s a huge fan of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and is heartbroken as any fan that the Breaking Dawn films will signal the series’ end.

“I think that we’re all really happy for each other,” Nina said. “I’m very happy that they exist because we exist because of them. Their success is our success. I’m kind of sad the movies are almost over.”

Definitely.

Vampires just "weren't in" with the young crowd before the Twilight books/movies came.

The vampire oriented shows in the mid-2000s did not make it before Twilight came around; "Moonlight" and "Blood Ties" come to mind.

I'd also like to say that the "True Blood" series probably wouldn't be around either. That's for the adults and "Vampire Diaries" is for the teens.

Though both of those book series are older than Twilight, Twilight definitely helped launch the vampire genre in the mainstream again.
