I recall a Growing Pains episode where Gordon Jump played the ghost of a former living character on the series. He was the kids' grandfather. Could any kind of similar angle been worked for John Amos? Maybe he and Norman Lear could patch things up for one episode.... It would have made a good season finale for the season Florida was gone. As for such an idea being too outlandish, if JJ can dream he was white, somebody else in the cast could dream about their late father paying a supernatural visit.
