HOQUIAM, Wash. (KTLA) -- Police have arrested a man accused of assaulting a stranger while carrying a dead weasel.
According to police, the suspect burst into an apartment and assaulted a man who was staying there.
The victim told police he asked the intruder, "Why are you carrying a weasel?"
Police said the attacker answered, "It's not a weasel, it's a marten," then punched him in the nose and ran off.
Local station, KXRO reports the attacker was apparently looking for his girlfriend and had gone to her former boyfriend's apartment where the victim was also living.
Police later found the suspect at another location arguing with his girlfriend and arrested him after a struggle.
A marten is a member of the weasel family.
