Legendary "Get Smart" producer Leonard Stern has passed away at the age of 87. Stern was also a writer on "The Honeymooners" during which time he and his partner Roger Price came up with the idea for Mad Libs.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Stern in 2006. Not only was he a TV legend, he was a wonderful guy.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Stern in 2006. Not only was he a TV legend, he was a wonderful guy.

Stern was also head writer for The Steve Allen Show (and also directed over 150 hours of that Sunday night prime-time series). In fact, I remember
when Steve introduced the "Mad Libs" idea on his show. Get Smart was
a brilliant show because of four talented men: creators Mel Brooks and Buck
Henry, producer Leonard Stern, and last (and certainly not least) star Don Adams. R.I.P., Mr. Stern.
