Hoping someone can recall this case.

When I googled the words, I find a lot about the Megan Curl case, but the victim in this case was middle aged. They found her in her bedroom. Her bed and perhaps part of the room were on fire. The authorities also discovered she had consumed a large quantity of alcohol before she died.

Does anyone remember this case or if there were any updates?

The case you're thinking of his the death of Lynn Amos. Her apartment was found ablaze one morning in 1995, and police initially believed that she died accidentally. They though she was drunk and smoking in bed, and that is how she caught fire. However, an accelerant was found on her body, and, along with other clues, police determined that she had been murdered. Her friends believe that she may have been silenced because of her investigation into Mexican banks. Sadly, there have been no arrests in the case and it remains unsolved:(
