I know Gary Burghoff was on the panel for the episode I'm thinking of. I found the Christmas Eve '75 episode you-know-where, he's on it and the time frame fits perfectly--but it wasn't the right one, dang it. Probably from the same week though, because Charles Nelson Reilly definitely was on the panel as well, it was not an episode with Gary in Charles' seat. If GSN has ever shown the episode I'm thinking of, hopefully the following clues might ring a bell:
"Call For_____" on the Super Match
A question about how so-and-so "...not only keeps his money under his mattress, he keeps his ____ under there too!"
Sound familiar to anybody?

The good news is (of course) that nearly the entirety of classic Match Game is now only a click away on line. The bad news: the devil is *nearly* in the details.
The episode in question was caught in the background of a reel-to-reel tape recording. It was made on my recorder, but the recorder was on loan to a friend of mine; I wasn't there. I bought that machine in the summer of 1975 and he moved three thousand miles away in June of 1976. Therefore, there are only so many possibilities as to which episode of Match Game this could be--and I've exhausted all of them.
All but one, that is. Match Game PM episode 12 is not available on Youtube as far as I've been able to find. Either this was Match Game PM s1 e12 or it took place in a parallel universe. If anybody has a lead on where to find that episode, I'd be very grateful.

0000000000000000000000000 Match Game 75 episode 583 from November 6th, 1975. As it turns out, Gary Burghoff was not on the panel. As I explained earlier, what I could make out of the snippet recorded on that date was only background noise picked up by a mic across the den from the TV set tuned to Match Game. I started watching two episodes a day from the beginning in April of last year and voila, the long sought episode popped up today. Sorry to say that no content from a lost episode was revealed in this thread.
Also sorry to learn how productive this exercise ultimately turned out to be. On the other hand, I always held out hope that somebody posting in this thread would come up with the answer...and indeed somebody did.....
